You may not know who Mike the Ironman is, but he went all the way to Kenting, Taiwan to enter the ‘Ironman 70.3 Taiwan’ International Challenge on November 3, 2012. Mike dedicated this race to raise funds for underprivileged children in Hong Kong, hoping to use this meaningful experience to demonstrate faith, hope and love.

A person needs a soldier’s heart to endure a triathlon race, and Mike’s determination was strong enough to finish the race in six hours – one full hour faster than his expected time! For Mike’s first-timer in such long distance race, it was a major milestone for him. Mike’s determination touched the many hearts of the people around him, and they helped Mike raise a total amount of over HK$70,000.

After the race on 1 December, Mike paid visits to underprivileged families and children at Sham Shui Po and delivered daily necessities to them in person. Having grown up in a grassroots family, he truly understands the hardships of low-income families. He hopes the children in these families look positively towards life, and continue to spread the love Mike has for them out to others who are in need in society.

Mike was delighted to have finished the race within his personal goal, and felt even more touched to see so many people supporting his cause. He wanted to thank his family, friends, triathlon teammates, and most of all the blessing from Jesus Lord for giving him to give meaning to his race – all for the needy low-income families in Hong Kong.
