Glory to God!  Hainan (South of the Qinghai Lake) Children’s Home had its official opening ceremony yesterday. Thank God that we are able to reach out to an increasing number of vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

A structured computer network and broadband connection were recently installed in our Qinghai office. Pray that this will facilitate steady communication and raise the efficiency of our Humanitarian Services China team.

Training Services Division will host a mini job fair in Choi Hung Headquarter today. Pray that it will provide the job seekers in the neighbourhood with updated and relevant informaton about the job market. 6

Please pray for the student mentees of the mentorship programme under the care of our Ministry Coordination Team who will take their end of year examinations soon. Pray that they are able to plan their study schedules efficiently and do their best to achieve good results.

Christian Action UK will hold a board meeting today. Please pray that God’s Spirit will give them wisdom to empower them as they make important decisions to strategize, and to raise funds for the orphans in Qinghai.

Praise God!  Mrs. Cheung Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, was honoured as one of Hong Kong’s Justice Pioneers at the recent Justice Conference Asia. This affirms Christian Action’s hard work, and the dedication of all staff and board members. 10

Our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Programme has embarked on a new project in partnership with the Mission to New Arrivals. Ten unemployed volunteers will start work on a farm in Fanling in June.  Pray the volunteers will press through as outdoor work in hot summer temperatures proves challenging.

Students from local schools and universities will volunteer and intern for Christian Action over the summer. Pray that they will achieve their goals and gain valuable working insight and experience, which will impact the global community in the future.

Please pray for the young adults in our Student Affairs & Youth Training Department as we help them with their studies, and to develop their interpersonal communication skills. Pray that these youngsters will find a career direction and most importantly they would experience God as we minister to them, and choose to follow Him.

Pray for Ji, Ming and Qun, the three children from Qinghai who recently had surgery in Hong Kong; that they will be adopted by loving forever families. Even though they all have physical limitations, pray that they thrive in our care as a testimony of God’s protection and provision. 14

Hundreds of bags of rice were recently donated to Christian Action.  More than half were distributed through our partner churches in Tin Shui Wai and Kwun Tong. The rest will go to the poor local community members we serve including refugees, asylum seekers and foreign domestic helpers in our shelters. Pray that the recipients will understand God’s provision as they receive this gift.

Some executives from a Hong Kong bank will visit Christian Action today to learn more about our green collection programme. Pray that they will be further inspired to support us by donating good-quality used items to be sold through CA’s charity outlets, which finance our services to the neglected poor in Hong Kong and Qinghai. 16

Happy Father’s Day!  Pray for all Christian Action staff (especially fathers) dedicated to following His plan to serve people in need, as mandated by our Heavenly Father. Glory to God.

Thank God!  Mark and Hong’s marathon in March 2013 has already raised over $84,000; and has another $30,000 in outstanding pledges! All these donations pay for eight-year-old Ji, from Xining Children’s Home’s surgery and care in Hong Kong.  Pray that more people will follow their example.

Our Ministry Coordination Team needs committed mentors to participate in the mentorship programme. Please pray that God will send those He has chosen to partner with us and support our ministry to end inter-generational poverty cycle.

Praise God!  Our Integrated Employment Assistance Programme Sheung Shui Centre has arranged 60 unemployed volunteer positions for our unemployed clients. Pray that all participating parties will be empowered by this programme to seek meaningful employment.

Today is World Refugee Day, and we will be co-hosting ‘SPEAK’ an arts and culture festival co-organized by the Hong Kong Refugee Advice Centre (Christian Action’s daughter agency), and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Pray that people will understand the plight of refugees worldwide and be moved to support us as we minister to their needs.

Praise God! Since March our New Arrival Services Mongkok Centre has been receiving fresh food donations. Please pray that the recipients will feel welcome in Hong Kong, and that they will integrate with the community quickly and harmoniously.

Thank God for helping our ministry coordination team run the “Love your Neighbour – caring for the Children” project. The project ends officially today, but we hope that the culture of caring for your neighbors will be upheld in the future.

Glory to God! A charity golf tournament held in Shanghai raised funds for underprivileged children in Qinghai. Pray for increased public awareness, so more people can walk alongside us, especially in China’s big cities.

Praise God! We have secured another two-year Home Affairs Department’s sponsorship for services to Ethnic Minorities in Jordan Woosung Street and Tuen Mun SHINE Centres.  Pray that we will continue to provide quality programmes to promote racial integration in Hong Kong.

Thank God! Sau Mau Ping Training Centre is having an open day today.  Pray that the centre will provide vocational training oriented to the job market, and valuable information to assist job seekers.

The lease of our existing shelter for the domestic migrant helpers will expire soon.  Pray that we will locate another suitable and affordable place as the shelter is indispensable for women waiting for their cases to be heard at the Labour Tribunal. 28

Please pray for Christian Action Asia to build a supportive network of prayer partners in the States.  May God bring key leaders and individuals from the USA to join the vision tour to Qinghai scheduled for October. We hope more people will be moved to support our ministry in China.

Congratulations!  Our Sheung Shui and Long Ping Centres have recently received awards from the Social Welfare Department for their outstanding volunteer work. Together our service recipients have given almost 4500 hours serving the community. Amen! 30
