Say thanks! Our celebration of 10th anniversary of the SHINE centre was warmly attended by over 300 guests and participants at our Choi Wan Headquarters. Pray that we strive to offer needs-oriented services for the ethnic minorities in the city.

Our Social Services (HK) Division has recently secured a funding of around 2.7 million to embark on a new initiative known as “Flying Over Self-Reliance & Mutual Help” themed promoting mutual community aid at On Tai Estate. Pray that we thrive to be light of our district and serve our beloved neighbourhood year after year.

Our Red Packet for Every Home campaign will be launched in its full swing this month.  Pray that the initiative would touch more hearts towards our ministries in helping the under-privileged families in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

A toy library was established and open for the toddlers and young kids in Huangnan Children’s Home last month. Pray that this facility will offer a novel and effective means to promote the holistic development of the deprived children in Qinghai.

Our Social Enterprise Division has been partnering with Sino Property Management Group to run a one-month-long Chinese New Year (CNY) Used-clothes Collection Drive across the city. Pray that the public will understand that their CNY ritual decluttering can indirectly serve the community by contributing good-quality used items for resale that partly sustain our charity services.

Today our Ministry Coordination Team On Tai Service Centre will host a talk themed “Payme” for 100 teenager mentees under the Children Development Fund Mentorship Programme. A similar event of the same purpose was organized earlier this month. Pray that we help impart the right life values to them, and that they will decide to pursue a God-pleasing life.

Sheung Shui Service Centre will conduct 2 two-hour workshops in January for 6 clients on welfare benefits to learn how to make leather products. Pray that this will help the beneficiaries to unlock their potential in creativity; and that they will feel empowered through our activities.

Give thanks! A private club house will generously donate 280 festive cakes to our beneficiaries of the New Arrivals Mong Kok Service Centre this week for the Chinese New Year. Pray that more private enterprises join us to deliver love and care to the needy and poor.

Different activities such as “Dialogue Experience” and “Create Your Own Life adventure” will be conducted for the clients on welfare in our Sheung Shui Centre this week. Pray that they will be empowered and enlightened to seek God through these self-exploration activities.

To uphold the theme of Healthy Community this year, we will launch a talk themed the speech therapy for post stroke rehabilitation in our neighbourhood. Pray that we strive to offer more need-oriented initiatives to enhance community health.

Our IT Department is working out the 1st phase of issuing e-receipt system for the on-line payment. Pray that the installation will be completed on time as scheduled. Thus resulting in raising our work efficiency and service quality.

Praise God!  About 60 clients from our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre will be sponsored to visit and enjoy the lunch in a local theme park tomorrow.  Pray that these grassroots families will feel cherished and cared for as we follow Jesus’ example to share His divine love with them.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2020 themed “They showed us unusual kindness” from 18th to 25th January is jointly organized by Catholic Diocesan Ecumenical Commission and HK Christian Council (HKCC) in which Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei our Executive Director serves as a member of the HKCC Executive Committee. Pray that all churches would be united as one Body to uphold His mission and vision. Amen!

Praise God! A local recruit has joined our China Programme Team in Qinghai who will be in charge of promoting the public health in our children homes. Pray that we continue to improve the well-being of our deprived and abandoned children there.

When many people in the city celebrate family reunions, the marginalized sojourners especially the refugees and some migrant domestic workers living in our shelters undergo daily mental and emotional stress during the festive time. May they be blessed our God’s protection and provision that will personally comfort them.

Give thanks to all donors for contributing to the success of our winter clothes drive that benefited about 250 clients from our Centre for Refugees. Pray that we strive to raise public concern with love and care towards the refugees and asylum seekers stranded in Hong Kong.

We have secured a funding to support our 5-year youth empowerment programme in Qinghai to better equip the younger generation and health caregivers in their job skills and improve their inter-generational communication. Pray that we do provide our beneficiaries a means to fish rather than giving them a fish.

Over the past fortnight, some Erhu Music Ambassadors from our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre have visited and performed erhu in 2 elderly homes in Tuen Mun. Pray that more volunteers, locals and ethnic minorities alike, will embrace the same mission as ours to give love and care to the disenfranchised seniors of our community.
