To contain the spread of the coronavirus, schools in HK were closed for months. Students from senior forms went back to school last week; and then followed by their junior counterparts this month. Pray that all beneficiaries and their families under the care of the Child Development Fund, the New Arrivals Service Programme and EM Integrated Services Programme will always be in the good hands of God. Amen!

Our free meal distribution has returned to serving the community 5 days a week, at our headquarters since last week. Pray that we strive to collaborate with other NGOs to bless the deprived families and elderly persons in our neighbourhood.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre has launched a part-time domestic helper matching platform for its clients on welfare benefits who have finished their housekeeping training. Pray that we continue to empower the needy nearby through our service.

From the 1st of June, On Tai Service Centre has re-opened the after-school child care service from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Monday to Friday for 25 children from the grassroots families as the epidemic seems to be under control. Pray that we strive to bring hope and concern to the underprivileged neighbours.

Our Cyber Corner at Choi Wan Headquarters has re-opened since 1st June to provide free access to the computer with multi-media devices and WiFi connection. Pray that we strive to connect the needy neighbours to the digital world through our services.

Thanks to our Lord for protecting the student mentees from our Ministry Coordination Team Long Ping Centre especially those who have just finished the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) who were under great pressure over the past few months. Pray that they learn that God has a plan to prosper them as they map out their future career path under the services we offer.

Two separate activities relating to Mentor’s Day and the Personal Development Plan for the Mentorship Programme under the Child Development Fund were smoothly organized in late May by our Ministry Coordination Team On Tai Service Centre. Pray that more churches will partner with us to inspire the younger generation to live out a God purposeful life.

Due to the pandemic outbreak, many people have been laid off or have faced pay cuts. Christian Action (CA) together with other Christian NGOs joined hands to form a task force initiated by Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP) with a view to offering empowerment training and job matching for the needy.  Pray that we continue to give hope and care as one body of Christ and spread the Gospel with our actions.

This month, our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre will conduct different on-line classes to stay connected to its clients via Facebook.  They will learn about topics such as home-made hand sanitizer, face masks, sports and job seeking techniques. Pray for His consistent inspiration and direction to empower our service users by all means, despite the Coronavirus crisis.

Thanks to God! One of our student mentees, aged 12, from the Ministry Coordination Team Long Ping Centre will undergo a one-year chemotherapy treatment after his operation in mid-May. Pray for his full recovery and strength and comfort directly from our Lord throughout the treatment. Amen.

During the epidemic, our China programme team has been conducting several on-line activities imparting knowledge about public health and anti-epidemic measures to the children in our Children’s Homes and the recipients of the education grant in Tongren. Pray that we strive to deliver love and care for the deprived children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Hooray! Our training courses have gradually resumed since mid-May. All training courses under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) have restarted from 1 June. Pray for His continuous protection and provision for all our clients, partners and staff of Christian Action.

As a member of the Executive Committee of the HK Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP), Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, will attend a sharing this morning hosted by HKCNP to present a unified witness on how different churches, Christian bodies and corporate partners join hands to help the disadvantaged break the intergenerational poverty cycle in HK.  Pray that we strive to be salt and light to the city.

Praise God! Our Love for Every Home Drawing Competition was successfully completed; and we finally received about 250 entries. An on-line award presentation will be held by mid-June to prevent the spread of the pandemic Pray that we foster family ties and relationships with our Lord through our endeavour.

Despite the worldwide pandemic, Christian Action Asia (USA) will hold its board meeting today.  Pray for Godly wisdom, protection and direction even though people are quarantined in the States. May our supporters stay connected and updated through Facebook to embrace our ministry for the deprived and handicapped children on the Tibetan Plateau. Amen!

During the pandemic outbreak, our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre will continue to deliver anti-virus packages to service users. Pray that we can source support from different stakeholders to sustain our charity work for the marginalized in the community.

Our China Programme team will conduct a baseline survey in Xining to empower local youth and young adults over 18 in their exploration and future career plans. Pray that they would be equipped and enriched to walk their individual paths with courage, dignity and strength.

The hearings of our clients in the shelter under the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme were adjourned to this month due to the coronavirus outbreak. Pray for His inner peace, mercy and justice for these stranded women caught up with the Labour Tribunal court cases. Amen!

Say thanks! Our third phase of the e-receipt system kicked off early this month. Pray that the work would be accomplished on schedule and the fourth stage would begin by August. Consequently, our work efficiency would then be enhanced.

Give thanks! Under the relaxation of the government’s anti-epidemic measures, the churches will reopen for services subject to the fulfilment of suitable infection control requirements this month. May God always be our refuge and strength even in such trying times.

To fight the aftermath of the Coronavirus, our New Arrivals Mong Kok Service Centre raises funds to offer extended after-school services and recruit more part-time tutors for the upcoming summer holiday.  Pray for His provision and protection as we face different challenges ahead.
