We successfully rented an appropriate venue for a food station next to our Mong Kok Service Centre which will accommodate a meal-box vending machine for the low-income families that gives out free food packs.  Pray the initiative will truly relieve part of their burden, especially for those who are currently hit by the pandemic crisis. Please support this "Emergency Food!" Campaign to support 1,000 persons in need.

Today is Christian Action’s (CA) Board meeting.  Pray for His direction, protection and providence for CA through our dedicated board members who support our ministry for the vulnerable and needy, especially in these difficult times, both in HK and Qinghai.

Despite the epidemic, our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre has been conducting several online workshops for different sports such as hockey, football, swimming and others for Ethnic Minorities clients this month. Pray that they feel loved and cared for as we strive to create a cohesive community for our next generation.

In August, our Child Development Fund programme team has been busy interviewing and reviewing the mentees’ target savings under the Personal Development Plan.  Pray for a smooth implementation and that our next generation would be coached to seek God through this life-changing project.

Please continue to pray for our $10,000 Reasons Campaign appealing for donations of the current government cash handouts, in full or part as our fundraising income has greatly dwindled due to the current adversity. Pray that we will be uplifted with faith to serve and walk with the deprived beyond the epidemic.

A professional crew consisting of a professor, teachers and about 25 students from the School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University has just finished a 10-day online rehabilitation workshop for our 16 teenage clients on the Bridge Programme, for their health care givers and rehabilitation workers. Pray that we strive to partner with different professionals to enhance our care for the needy and disadvantaged children in Qinghai even under the current epidemic crisis.

Praise God. We received a generous donation of brand new desktop computers from a private corporation for our 50 Ethnic Minority clients in our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre and Tuen Mun Service Centre in August. Pray that they would understand God’s love as we help address their urgent needs especially at this challenging time.

The Mid-autumn Festival is around the corner. The Lions Club of Mid Levels has donated hundreds of mooncakes to 135 clients from our New Arrivals Mong Kok Service Centre. Pray that more philanthropists will join us to show love and care for the disadvantaged.

To curb the coronavirus, CA is changing some of the workshops/training to e-learning mode in September. May God bless our Information and Technology Department to render a smooth adaptation and technical accommodation for the shift.

Praise God! The renovation of our ESR’s Sheung Shui Community Sales Outlet was completed on time last month.  Pray that it will provide an alternative for the community to enjoy shopping meaningfully as the returns will finance the ministry in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Selected training courses under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) have resumed face-to-face mode in phases since 1st September.  Pray for His continuous protection and providence for all our clients, partners and staff at this challenging moment.

Give thanks. We have recently renewed separate co-management agreements of the Children’s Homes with the local government authorities in Qinghai Province. Pray that the mutual cooperation will thrive on improving the overall welfare of the deprived children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Thank God for many volunteers helping in our "Emergency Food!" Campaign. Pray for those who receive and those who give. Pray that with a full stomach these families will be able to overcome helplessness and eventually find jobs that are sustainable.

Today Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, will attend the meeting in her capacity as an Executive Committee member of HK Christian Council.  Pray that all Christian churches would be united as one Body to spread joy, peace and love to the city as its mission, particularly during the epidemic.

This month our Social Enterprise Division will collaborate with various local community organizations to launch green collection drives in different locations. Pray that our goodwill will be spread further across the city so that more people will donate household items, clothes and other useful things they no longer need as a means to preserve the environment; and also sustain our charity work.

To prevent the spread of the virus infection, we have introduced online tutoring classes for children under our after-school care programmes since the new school term began in early September. Pray that we help share part of the parents’ burden in this area.

We are strategizing one of our annual fundraisers, Season of Love Charity Drive. Pray for His inspiration, direction and provision that we desperately need in the midst of the epidemic crisis. Amen!

Our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre is implementing a 3-month self-exploration and refreshing initiative themed “Relax. Take it Easy” for the Ethnic Minorities sector on different topics such as happiness, stress, trust, dreams, etc. From August to October, they meet regularly online every Saturday. Pray that they would be coached to live a beautiful life with courage and vigor; and understand how precious they are in Our Lord’s eyes.

Please pray that our Christian Action UK will connect committed, competent and like-minded supporters to embrace our ministry in Qinghai despite the epidemic crisis. May those God-chosen ones proactively respond to His call to serve the orphans and abandoned children on the Tibetan Plateau!  Amen!

Our Sheung Shui Centre is launching its 2020-21 Volunteers Recruitment Campaign under the Tai Po & North District Coordinating Committees on the Promotion of Volunteer Service that solicits volunteer recruitment in a wide service spectrum in the North District from now till early February 2021. Pray that we strive to help promote the gift of serving!

We are preparing our new corporate video. Pray for smooth coordination and seamless communication between different parties in the design and production. Pray it would form an effective link to arouse public awareness towards our diverse ministries both in Hong Kong and Qinghai. Amen!

Due to the epidemic, children and youth who are often confined at home most of the time, tend to get addicted to electronic gadgets or gaming/surfing online. Our Employment Support Services On Tai Service Centre will co-launch the “HKCSS Chatroom for Parents” 社聯爸媽茶座.  Pray that we will impart the importance of smart parenting in the digital era through different collaboration.

Please pray for Christian Action Asia (USA) to achieve its renewed target of 7,500 followers on Facebook even though it has been a long haul. Pray for His strength and insight to make this virtual platform a strong support for our ministry to the vulnerable children in Qinghai.

Give thanks to our Lord for His full protection and provision to our Centre for Refugees as our service users particularly feel the strain of poverty and scarcity during the Covid-19 attack. Pray that we garner more support in delivering daily necessities and food during the home visits; and together we present His godly love and care for the marginalized sojourners stranded in Hong Kong.

In the midst of the virus attack, many of our beneficiary families from our Long Ping Centre have recently been laid off or received salary cuts. Pray for His presence and mercy; and may their worries be relieved through our services.

Supported by overseas funding, our China Programme team has started a new Youth Empowerment and Training Programme for 20 Tibetan youth in designing their career path; emphasizing on interviewing skills, positive communication, etc. Pray that the attendees would be better prepared to enter the job market with skills and confidence. Amen!

During the epidemic, our shelters under the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme are fully occupied due to the service suspension of the Labour Tribunal, related government department offices and travel restrictions in the countries to whom our clients, upon their case settlement, are supposed to return. Pray that we strive to play a proactive role in offering shelter and care for them as we follow what is written in the bible: “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple…” Matthew 10:42

Our Ethnic Minorities (EM) Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre is organizing an initiative named “Youth Career Exploration Programme” for the EM youth in September. Some of the popular career fields such as being a barista, a chef or a manicurist will be highlighted via video shooting. Due to the epidemic, the programme may be conducted virtually or physically.  Pray that we continue to aid them to get integrated into the community with ease.

Our former staff re-joined the rehabilitation division of our China Programme in Qinghai.  Meanwhile we are recruiting new local social workers to better serve children in need. May God connect the right candidates with us, who will optimize our services to the disabled and deprived children on the Tibetan Plateau.
