To provide more comprehensive protection for our staff and clients, Christian Action (CA) received another round of anti-virus disinfectant, using photocatalyst technology to kill germs with light, last week. Pray that we continue to advocate environmental and personal hygiene in fighting the virus together.

To better facilitate our on-line donation drive, CA is working on improving its e-donation platform. Starting from this month, our Information and Technology Department has successfully enhanced the e-receipt issuing system for donations.

Give thanks!
A group of volunteers visited 70 deprived families, living in sub-divided flats in Mong Kok, last week. Each beneficiary family received an electric rice cooker and other groceries; and were taught how to prepare desserts with it. Pray that they feel cherished and empowered through our services.

Over 70 mentees’ families under the Child Development Fund Programme and 30 others from the North District gratefully received their New Year Blessing Food Packs. Pray that we help convey the message of being more blessed to give than to receive. Hopefully, more people will join us to show mercy and love to those in need.

Tomorrow Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, will attend the Thanksgiving & Sharing event hosted by the HK Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP). But  it has been cancelled due to the pandemic. Pray that the public would view our persistent commitment to serve the vulnerable and needy with the partnership as a joint testimonial to glorify His name.

Congratulations!
We are delighted that Christian Action’s Employees Retraining Board (ERB) team will be awarded three major prizes; our corporate partners and course instructors will also receive several awards at the ERB’s Award Presentation Ceremony to be held this afternoon. This is indeed awesome news in such difficult times due to the pandemic.  Pray that such partnerships will foster our shared social responsibility and continue to bless the community year after year.

Conventionally, Christians from over 170 countries will come together to pray for justice and peace on World Prayer Day every March. To help contain the virus infection, the 2021 World Prayer Day, themed Build on a Strong Foundation, is being broadcast on YouTube. The broadcast started yesterday. Pray that Christians all over the world would be inspired “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God” (adapted from Micah 6:8)

Today is International Women’s Day.
May God uplift the refugee women and mothers who are estranged from their families and give them resilience, faith and hope to withstand all challenges and destitution in HK.  Please uphold these women in your prayers.

7 Colleagues from our Sheung Shui Centre will join a retreat today, co-organized with other partners, that was formerly scheduled to be held in mid-February. Pray that they would be uplifted with positive energy to serve our clients on welfare in one of the poorest districts in HK.

Due to economic stagnation, many grassroots families face great stress to even feed their families with nutritious food. Thanks to a generous donor, we will open another food station under the "Emergency Food!" Campaign this March, aiming to serve 500 more persons in need at this critical moment. Pray that more people will be inspired to support the campaign.

Today starts our virtual 3-Legged Charity Walk 2021 to be held over 2 weeks. May God shower His insight and strength for us to harvest in abundance and sustain our charity services for the vulnerable and poor in HK and Qinghai.

Our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme team has just begun a Cantonese class at the shelter for our new clients till May. Pray that the ladies would be enriched to adapt to new environments in Hong Kong with ease and courage.

Our Sheung Shui Centre will start a new training session, focusing on acupuncture with massage, to help relieve pain and insomnia for a group of 6 – 8 clients in March. Pray for faith in Him, for His presence, His word, His enrichment and direction to guard us against all physical, mental and spiritual struggles.

Our Season of Love Charity Drive 2020, one of our annual fund-raisers, will end this month. May God bless us to yield enough, despite the pandemic, to help the impoverished and needy in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Answered Prayer
A majority of the training courses under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) have resumed face-to-face mode since 22 February.  Pray for His continuous protection and providence for all our clients, partners and staff.

This March, the China Programme team is renewing the annual registration for our Qinghai Office. Pray that we continue to get support from the local authority; and to serve the underprivileged and vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

To control the spread of the epidemic, schools in HK were closed for almost 2 months. Many of them have resumed physical classes with some adjustments since last month. Pray that all beneficiary children and their families under the care of our New Arrivals Service Programme, Child Development Fund Mentorship Programme and EM Integrated Services Programme will always be in the good hands of God.

During the epidemic, our fundraising team is burdened with unprecedented hardship. May God protect all our frontline colleagues and their families against the virus at this difficult time.

This March, our Sheung Shui Centre will co-organize with an NGO some workshops on the theme of suicide prevention for about 10 of the front-line staff. Pray that they would learn more about the risk factors and warning signs for suicide; and be better equipped to serve the clients with sense and sensitivity.

CA tries to speak the gospel through action, being prepared in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). Pray for His connection to link up a suitable church to use our community hall on Sundays for our beloved neighbours and to provide volunteers to serve the disadvantaged with us.  Amen!

CA has been selected as one of the beneficiary agencies under a charity campaign of a Japanese departmental store in Hong Kong since February.  Pray that we strive to partner with different corporations to show love and care for the deprived and needy.

This month, God willing, our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre will jointly hold a physical career talk for about 15 EM students with a secondary school in the neighbourhood. Pray that the beneficiaries will feel empowered and choose to walk on a God-pleasing path. Amen!

Mass layoffs and salary cuts have resulted from the multiple rounds of social-distancing measures following an attempt to curb the spread of the pandemic. Many of our low-incomes families, who are seriously hit, feel stressed and helpless. Pray that we would garner enough financial support via Friends of Christian Action to continuously bring hope and show mercy through our ministries.

Today our Ethnic Minorities (EM) Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre will co-host a webinar for 25 EM clients named: Be Aware of Your Mental Health, with a private corporation. Pray that we continue to strive to advocate the importance of mental health particularly to our ethnic minorities.

Praise God for turning a disaster into a blessing. Reconstruction of our Centre for Refugees is expected to be completed this month after a dreadful fire that broke out on 29th August. Pray that we continue to offer our refugees and asylum seekers ‘a much needed home away from home’.
