Thanks for the donations and prayers! Our Food station 2 will start its full operation this week. We will offer cooked meal packs daily for up to 1,500 recipients from deprived families. Pray for continuous support for our “Emergency Food!” programme!

To stay updated with current technological advancement, our Information & Technology Department will begin the automation and computer upgrading for our Employees Retraining Board (ERB) training services, particularly in student enrollment, job matching and placement, in this month. Pray for a smooth upgrade of the computer systems to help us provide better services to our trainees who are looking for jobs.

Last month, a shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui was discovered to be a place visited by the city’s first known carrier of a highly infectious mutant strain of Covid-19. Grateful that all our staff, clients and volunteers in our Centre for Refugees in the vicinity are shielded from infections and stay healthy.

Despite the epidemic, our Child Development Fund (CDF) Long Ping Service Centre has tried to foster a mentor-and-mentee relationship through different interest classes such as movie watching and calligraphy since April. Pray that the young mentees would also learn Godly values, values of faith, hope and love as their core pillars through this relationship.

Say thanks to the Rotary Club of Kwun Tong for their donation of anti-epidemic kits to 35 of our beneficiaries at the Choi Wan Centre in April. Pray that we continue to partner with different organizations to deliver warmth and care for our beloved neighbours.

Our Training Services Division will carry out its 2nd round of 3-session training project named "Power Up – in the Workplace (數碼生活- 職場篇)" at our Digital Learning Centre in May. Pray that we thrive on enhancing our clients through our market-oriented training and retraining programmes.

To commemorate International Labour Day in May, our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme team has conducted a video competition named as “Story Behind a Dish” with 2 other organizations earlier. Today sees its award presentation. Pray that through this initiative they would personally feel how special they are in the eyes of Our Lord.

Notwithstanding the negative impact of the epidemic, our marketing team has been seeking fund raising alternatives to sustain our charity work. Praise God that donation boxes are being placed in different branches of a department store from April to June. Pray that public awareness would be aroused to extend a helping hand to those in desperate need.

A territory-wide census will be conducted in HK this summer. Pray that Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, JP, our Executive Director, as a member of the Statistics Advisory Board, who will meet with the Board today, will have Godly wisdom to give valuable advice on collecting demographic and socio-economic data of the HK population which is essential for the government to strategize its future planning.

As the epidemic situation improves, our Training Services Division has begun its marketing strategies to promote the ERB programme. Pray that the attendants of these training and retraining courses would be better empowered in their search for jobs and career advancement.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2021 themed “Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit” is to be held from today to 25th May which is jointly organized by the Catholic Diocesan Ecumenical Commission and HK Christian Council (HKCC) in which Mrs. Cheung serves as a member of the HKCC Executive Committee. Pray that all churches would be united as one Body to uphold His mission and vision. Amen!

This month, our Social Enterprise Division will conduct 3 green collection campaigns in different housing estates in Kowloon East. Pray that our continuous endeavor would advocate environmental conservation.

Our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre will conduct an event named “Movie Fest” for a total of 16 clients over 2 weekends of May. Afterwards, they will also bring home some food packs. Pray that all participants would cherish the precious movie time with fun and food which they can hardly afford due to their meagre family budget.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre is implementing a project under the Community Chest’s “Creating a Better Internet Day 2021" for the parents of E-generation kids. Pray that they would be better enriched through our services to keep abreast of technological advancement, especially during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Since its inception, our On Tai Service Centre has been running internship programmes for some clients on welfare benefits via after-school care services catering for needy families at On Tai Estate. To better equip them, the programme will be extended to a 6-day work week. Pray for sensitivity and divine insight for our team to enrich the interns to re-enter the job market with confidence and necessary skills.

Answered Prayer
2 new local staff members, including a local rehabilitation staff member and an administrative assistant, have recently joined our Qinghai office. Pray that they would quickly adapt to the environment and help to improve our services in the children’s homes on the Tibetan Plateau.

Praise God for protecting the student mentees in our Mentorship Programme from Long Ping Service Centre, especially those who have just finished the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) despite the epidemic. Pray that they all learn how God has a plan to prosper them as they map out their future career path under the services we offer.

Some of our present mentees and post-CDF participants (over 16-years-old) will embark on the Youth Work Experience Programme 2021 in the Greater Bay Area this summer, God willing. Pray that they feel loved and cared for; and are motivated to choose to walk on a God-seeking path beyond the programme.

Tomorrow our Long Ping Service Centre will conduct an excursion around Ho Pui Reservoir for 30 participants under a mentorship programme (including mentees, their parents and mentors), which aims to enhance their awareness towards environmental conservation through upcycling activities and litter collection in the country park nearby. Pray that relationships are strengthened, and the mentees feel the need to repay the community with empathy and love in future.

This May, 3 on-line classes themed “Digital integration initiative and Social inclusion” have been conducted by our SHINE Tuen Mun Service Centre for 12 students (8 ethnic minorities and 4 locals) in neighbouring schools. Pray that we continue to foster social inclusion through different activities we run for the community.

Massive layoffs and salary cuts resulting from the multiple rounds of social-distancing measures have further aggravated the livelihood of deprived families, especially those in the North District. Many of our clients from the Sheung Shui Service Centre are seriously affected by the current recession. Pray that we garner enough financial support via  “Friends of Christian Action” to continuously bring hope and show mercy through our ministries.
