The second wave of Covid-19 in India is unprecedented with a surge of more than 300,000 daily new cases over the last month, resulting in high death tolls. Please pray in unison for His healing hands on India as its national health system has already been overwhelmed.

Many children from our New Arrival Mong Kok Service Centre and from other children’s support programmes are taking their internal final examinations this month.  Pray that all of them will concentrate on their studies to achieve the best results.

Praise God! A trainee, after completing the Basic Floral Design Certificate Course under our Employee Retraining Board (ERB) training programme, initiated a one-off fundraising activity within her circle of friends last month to show her appreciation for CA. All proceeds went directly to sustain our charity work.  Pray that our goodwill would continue to spread and move more people to embrace our ministries. 

Today our colleague will speak in a seminar themed “the Ethnic Minorities in Hong Kong” with other guests, hosted by the HK Chinese Christian Churches Union.  Pray that the public would identify us as Christians who follow Jesus Christ to serve the impoverished to break the intergenerational poverty cycle in HK.

Let’s pray together for Christian Action UK. May God connect more committed and like-minded supporters to respond warmly to His call to serve the disabled and abandoned children on the Tibetan Plateau!  Amen!

Praises!!!  Christian Action Asia (USA) has received 2 generous donations supporting our Friends of Qinghai Children Programme. Pray that we strive to garner enough support both financially and spiritually to deliver blessings to the unfortunate children on the Tibetan Plateau.

The Training Services Division & Sheung Shui Service Centre will jointly conduct a staff workshop on communication skills on the Internet and tips in resume’ writing today.  Pray that we strive to enrich ourselves and in turn empower the welfare recipients with knowledge and strength. Hopefully, they would pay it forward in the community in future.

Today Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, together with the head of ERB, will be interviewed by a Kwun Tong District Councilor focusing on “Labour Policy and Concern with special reference to Vocational Training and Employment in HK”. Pray that our consistent effort in better equipping job seekers would be recognized as we believe in giving them a means to fish rather than giving them a fish.

5 of our student mentees from our Mentorship Programme of the Long Ping Service Centre will embark on their 5-day Youth Work Experience programme.  They have chosen to have work experience from different trades/industries including health care, engineering, IT, optometry etc. this month. Pray that they will personally experience how God is leading their way like a lamp to light their path.

An undergrad from the Department of Social Work at the Chinese University of Hong Kong has been interning for 10 weeks at our Sheung Shui Service Centre since early June. Pray that more youth will be deeply inspired to participate in our ministry helping the disadvantaged in the city.

This June, our China Programme team is renewing the co-management agreement for Haxi Children’s Home. Pray that we continue to get support from the local authority; and to serve the underprivileged and vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Our Woosung Service Centre will conduct a project themed: Dreams can be fulfilled on 4 Saturday evenings in June with a view to promoting family ties to a group consisting of 4 ethnic minority parents and their children through games and fun time; and mutual understanding. Pray that all participants would enjoy and cherish the precious moments and food packs.

A variety show will be held at Tuen Mun Service Centre this afternoon. The event will be hosted by the service team and performed by our service users. It will be broadcast live, too. Pray that all participants will cherish the service we render and treasure the sweet memories. 

Today is the Dragon Boat Festival!
May God bless our staff to rest in His word during this public holiday.  Pray that we will all be greatly uplifted and work together to face the challenges ahead.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre will continue to launch a webinar and a thematic movie supplemented with a quiz for parents in this digital era under the Community Chest’s Project Phase 2 of "Creating a Better Internet Day 2021" this month. Pray that the parents would be enriched in computer knowledge and internet safety; and keep abreast of the times, especially during the pandemic.

Due to the economic recession, many of our student mentees from grassroots families, are facing great financial hardship and have struggled to spend their savings initially reserved for the Personal Development Plan (PDP) to meet their pressing households’ needs, instead of pursuing their dream. May God bless our Child Development Fund Mentorship Programme team with wisdom to coach them with hope and faith in our Lord who cares.

Our On Tai Service Centre has launched another phase of the “Hang Seng Academic Assistance Programme” for 25 clients; from Monday to Friday, which emphasizes proactive and self-motivated learning. It also includes the upcoming summer programmes till this August. Pray that we strive to relieve part of the burden of parents living in the vicinity. 

The colleagues from Training Service Division will visit a corporate partner in the coffee sector. Pray that they would be better equipped to serve the job seekers in future with the most updated market info in the trade.

This afternoon will see a celebration themed “Standing Together in Hope” to be held at CCC Wan Chai Church both physically and virtually to celebrate World Refugee Day. May God move more compassionate hearts in Hong Kong to care for the marginalized sector with love and understanding.

Today is Christian Action’s (CA) Board meeting.  Pray for His direction, protection and providence for CA through our dedicated board members who support our ministry for the vulnerable and needy, especially in this difficult time, both in HK and Qinghai.

During the epidemic, we face difficulties in planning fundraising events. Please join us to pray for His strength, wisdom and inspiration to strategize more initiatives to raise funds for our charity work in Hong Kong and Qinghai.   Amen!

A new staff member joined our Sheung Shui Service Centre last week. Pray for her quick adaptation and integration into the team; and that together they strive to serve the deprived with passion and vigor.

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, our Social Enterprise Division has teamed up with Aloestree to disinfect over 600 subdivided flats using photocatalyst technology to kill germs with light. Pray that we thrive on serving the poor through this collaboration.   

Today is the last day of a 3-session social inclusion programme run by Tuen Mun SHINE Centre for our ethnic minority clients in a secondary school within the same district. Pray that we help foster community spirit so as to embrace each other’s culture and develop an understanding and cohesive society.

Our Training Services Division will conduct its 7th round training project named "Power Up – Toolbox (數碼生活 工具篇)" at our Digital Learning Centre this afternoon. Pray that we thrive on offering more market-oriented training and retraining programmes.

This afternoon our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme team will co-organize with the Harvest Mission Community Church a medical seminar themed “Reproductive Health” cum body examination for service users. Pray that they would benefit from this collaboration and feel loved and cared for by the community.

We are moving out of the Woosung Service Centre and Tuen Mun Service Centre under the SHINE programme this week.  Pray for a safe and smooth uninstallation; and steadfast faith in His divine plan to open up new services.  

Summer vacation is upcoming.
The On Tai Service Centre team is fully geared up to execute a series of summer programmes including games, adventure activities, music lessons, speech training, etc. for about 15 primary school students. Participants have been selected by drawing lots in early June. Pray that it gives us a golden chance to share God’s divine love through our dedication to serve our beloved neighbours.

This June, our Social Enterprise Division has collaborated with various local community organizations to launch the green collection drives in Kowloon East.  Pray that we continue to promote environmental conservation through our persistent advocacy.
