Praise God! A trainee, after completing the Basic Floral Design Certificate Course under our Employee Retraining Board (ERB) training programme, initiated a one-off fundraising activity within her circle of friends last month to show her appreciation for CA. All proceeds went directly to sustain our charity work. Pray that our goodwill would continue to spread and move more people to embrace our ministries.

Today our colleague will speak in a seminar themed “the Ethnic Minorities in Hong Kong” with other guests, hosted by the HK Chinese Christian Churches Union. Today Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, together with the head of ERB, will be interviewed by a Kwun Tong District Councilor focusing on “Labour Policy and Concern with special reference to Vocational Training and Employment in HK”. Pray that our consistent effort in better equipping job seekers would be recognized as we believe in giving them a means to fish rather than giving them a fish.

5 of our student mentees from our Mentorship Programme of the Long Ping Service Centre will embark on their 5-day Youth Work Experience programme. They have chosen to have work experience from different trades/industries including health care, engineering, IT, optometry etc. this month. This June, our China Programme team is renewing the co-management agreement for Haxi Children’s Home. Pray that we continue to get support from the local authority; and to serve the underprivileged and vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Our Woosung Service Centre will conduct a project themed: Dreams can be fulfilled on 4 Saturday evenings in June with a view to promoting family ties to a group consisting of 4 ethnic minority parents and their children through games and fun time; and mutual understanding. Our Sheung Shui Service Centre will continue to launch a webinar and a thematic movie supplemented with a quiz for parents in this digital era under the Community Chest’s Project Phase 2 of "Creating a Better Internet Day 2021" this month. Due to the economic recession, many of our student mentees from grassroots families, are facing great financial hardship and have struggled to spend their savings initially reserved for the Personal Development Plan (PDP) to meet their pressing households’ needs, instead of pursuing their dream. Our On Tai Service Centre has launched another phase of the “Hang Seng Academic Assistance Programme” for 25 clients; from Monday to Friday, which emphasizes proactive and self-motivated learning.
