Yesterday our Migrant Domestic Workers team along with the Migrant Training Centre of Chinese Rhenish Church co-organized an excursion themed eco-friendly lifestyle and green recreation activity for 30 shelter clients at Half Moon Bay.  Pray that all participants would cherish the sweet memories and feel empowered.

Our On Tai Service Centre team is exploiting the chance of using the centre for the practicum required for professional training in marriage and family therapy offered by the HK Polytechnic University. Pray that this will flourish into a strong supportive network for the needy in our neighbourhood.

The HK Christian Council, in which Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, serves as a member on its Executive Committee, has signified today as a special “Hong Kong Sunday”. Churches from different denominations in HK have been called to pray for His presence, provision and protection for HK to withstand future challenges. Amen!

The Sheung Shui Service Centre is trying proactively to connect with small shops of different trades in the Northern District. Pray that the network they form would benefit the centre users, mainly those on welfare benefits; and that they would be empowered to re-enter the job market with ease.

A new social worker will join the Hainan Children’s Home this month. Prior to this, she will start her on-job training at Huangnan Children’s Home and our office in Xining. Pray that she will adapt to her new working environment and together we help raise the well-being of the beneficiary children we care for on the Tibetan Plateau.

Summer vacation is around the corner.
Our centres providing children/youth programmes are fully geared up to launch different dynamic summer programmes! We are planning to run a wide range of activities from games, adventure activities, music lessons, speech training, excursions, etc.  Pray that all these activities help the children in self-exploration and fosters Godly values.

Over this month, the Training Services Division is carrying out several events promoting our Employees Retraining Board’s training opportunities in different fields across the city. Pray that the attendants will understand how important it is to improve themselves in realizing their dreams for a better life.

This afternoon, Mrs. Cheung, in her capacity as Chairman of the Justice and Social Concern Committee (JSCC) under the HK Christian Council, will attend its bi-monthly meeting. May God guide her words and steps; and continue to use JSCC as His peace and justice in these challenging times.

A fire  broke out last August and destroyed our Centre for Refugees. Fortunately, we managed to renovate the centre with a generous donation from the community. Our service team is now busy strategizing the centre’s reopening plan. Pray that we strive to offer a “home away from home” for our refugees and asylum seekers.

Christian Action is being selected as one of the beneficiary agencies under a charity campaign of a big department store in Hong Kong today.  Pray that we strive to collaborate with different corporations to show love and care for people in need.

Some children from our children’s homes in Qinghai will return to their relatives’ homes for the summer vacation. Pray for divine providence and protection for these needy children on the Tibetan Plateau. Amen!

Our Child Development Fund Long Ping Service Centre will conduct 2 talks stressing the protection of abandoned pets and the environment on 13th and 30th July respectively. Pray that we strive to instill right values such as civic responsibility in the student mentees through different activities.

By collaborating with a local bakery, CA will launch the Season of Love Charity Drive 2021 for the Mid-Autumn Festival from July to September. Pray that more enterprises and the public would be motivated to support the campaign; and the proceeds will sustain our charity work for the underprivileged in HK and Qinghai.

Young people are now found to be more likely to be unemployed and remain longer in the school-to-work transition than their adult counterparts, especially during the pandemic crisis. As the world commemorates “World Youth Skills Day” today, pray that the younger generation would be uplifted to achieve fulfilment through education. May God connect the hearts of the potential supporters or organizations to join us to bless our next generation.

2 new staff members have recently joined our Corporate Advancement Division. Pray for their quick adaptation and integration; and that together they would work as one team promoting our ministries in Hong Kong and Qinghai, so that more people would be moved and learn that we are followers of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Our Training Services Division will conduct 3 more rounds of the training project named "Power Up – Toolbox (數碼生活 工具篇)" on 3 consecutive weekends in July at our Digital Learning Centre. Each of them lasts for 3 hours. Pray that we continue to conduct more need-oriented training and retraining programmes in the digital era.

Our Long Ping Service Centre team will conduct a gathering tomorrow afternoon for a group of 20 people (including the mentees who sat for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) 2021), their parents and mentors under the CDF Mentorship Programme. Pray that they learn that God has a plan to prosper them and to give them a future filled with hope.

The HK Annual Book Fair is back this summer from 14 to 20 July at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre. Give thanks to the Rotary Club of Bayview who have sponsored some beneficiary children under our after-school care programme, to visit and buy books with gift money given to them. Pray that they feel God’s love and care through our ministry; and are enriched by the power of reading.

Since last week, the Sheung Shui Service Centre has been conducting a 2-session training class on “Home Maintenance and Repair Services” for clients on welfare. Pray that this will achieve a win-win scenario as the trainees would be equipped to get jobs by reciprocally offering need-oriented services to the community.

Today sees the release of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) 2021 results. Please pray that all students who sat for the DSE would discover their passion and direction in life and realize their dreams through our mentorship programme of the Child Development Fund programme.

This summer, about 80 student mentees (aged 16 and above) from our 7th Mentorship Programme under the Child Development Fund (CDF) will embark on their 5-day Youth Work Experience Programme chosen from more than 40 industries/trades this summer. Pray that they will treasure the precious moments and learn to delight themselves in the Lord; and decide to walk on a God-pleasing path through this impactful programme.

The On Tai Service Centre has joined hands with the Baptist University to offer four Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments (Tian Zhi 天炙) to 20 clients on welfare benefits (aged 60 and above) this month. Pray that more partnerships will be established to care for the needy in the community.

Our Corporate Advancement team is preparing a 2-month-long photo shoot at different service centres. Pray for His inspiration, seamless communication between different stakeholders and smooth execution of the schedule. “And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

Our Social Enterprise Division has conducted several “Green Collection Charity Drives” in different private housing estates in Kowloon East this month.  Pray that our goodwill would spread further throughout Hong Kong and more people would embrace our green collection programme.

With support from government funding, our Ambassador Scheme for Ethnic Minority Youth (Urban) has been extended for another year. Pray that we strive to connect the right persons through the initiative to reach the community and help them to embrace greater integration.

25 children from the after-school care programme at the On Tai Service Centre team have learnt about some green drinks and healthy diet through the “Summer Nutrition Programme” this month. Pray that we help impart a green eating habit and the essence of keeping our body healthy, as it is God’s sanctuary.
