Today the many eligible persons who have registered with the Consumption Voucher Scheme will receive their first vouchers. Seeing so much basic needs, Christian Action is launching an initiative to share our blessings with the vulnerable by either buying them rice packs; donating supermarket gift coupons; or giving out one-off donation to help those struggling to put food on the table. Pray that people will be moved to give as The Lord’s prayer reminds us -  Give us this day our daily “rice”. Amen!

About 65 children from our support services for children & families under the Hang Seng Summer Programme will attend a DIY class learning how to make mosquito/bug repellent gel this week. Pray that we strive to relieve part of the parents’ burden to take care of their children during the summer vacation.

Today is an interview day for applicants of the “ERB 20 x 50 Internship Programme” co-organized with the Employees Retraining Board which will be held at the MacPherson Stadium.  Pray that this would help the elderly and young adults to re-enter the job market with renewed drive and new skills; and uplift those recently laid off due to the epidemic.

Four of the student mentees from the Child Development Fund Mentorship Programme have just finished their 5-day experiential workforce learning under the Youth Work Experience.  Pray that they would be empowered to choose a God-pleasing way in future through this impactful programme.

We are launching the Season of Love 2021 Mooncake Campaign, one of our major annual fundraising campaigns.  All proceeds will sustain our charity work for the needy in HK and Qinghai.  Pray for His provision and protection that we desperately need in the midst of this epidemic crisis.

The HK Christian Council, in which Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, serves as a member on its Executive Committee, will select 10 electors for the Christian (Protestant) Sub-sector through drawing lots from a pool of candidates nominated earlier by its member denominations and organizations.  The drawing of lots will be carried out today.  Pray for a smooth implementation of the event.  Amen!

An art therapy workshop was held for several children aged 5 to 11 and their parents at the end of July, by an intern at our Sheung Shui Service Centre.  Hopefully, they learned better intergenerational communication skills and to relieve their stress.  Pray that we help instill Godly values in the disadvantaged families on welfare benefits.

Our Training Services Division will conduct a DIY activity on mosaic art titled「友你友我」(or known as “You and Me”).  Pray that we strive to foster community cohesion for our beloved neighbours so they would learn how to leave their worries and anxieties, through the activity, to our Lord for He cares. Amen!

To better cater for community needs, our ethnic minorities service team has been restructured to serve this marginalized sector across the city. Pray for our steadfast faith in His direction, protection and provision despite the challenges we face.

Tomorrow will see the result release of the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (a.k.a. JUPAS).  Please pray for the candidates, especially those under our Child Development Fund Mentorship Programme, that they would learn that God has a plan to prosper them, to give them hope and a future. One of our shelter clients of the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme, categorized as a victim of human trafficking, has been struggling with her settlement case for almost two years.  She has to undergo 2 medical assessments today and next Thursday to justify her claims of an injury at work.  May God give her comfort, patience, and inner peace during this difficult time in her life.

A group of 25 children under the After-school Care Programme of the On Tai Service Centre will visit the Cupnoodles Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui in mid-August.  Pray that all participants will enjoy themselves and value this precious opportunity during the pandemic.

This August, as the epidemic situation improves, our Child Development Fund Long Ping Service Centre tries to organize more core programme activities to promote a green diet, strengthen social networking in Tin Shui Wai and offer an experience of being blind in a rural African village, for the mentees.  Pray that they all feel treasured in the eyes of Our Lord; and uplifted to repay the community in the future.

25 children under the On Tai Service Centre’s Phase 2 Hang Seng Academic Assistance Programme will attend a virtual graduation ceremony this Friday.  Pray that they are coached to live a SMART life; and feel how precious they are in the eyes of Our Lord.

Praise God! Our 2 food stations, providing nutritious meal boxes from a pick up machine and some other daily food stuff, have endeavored to feed the vulnerable people for almost a year.  Please continue to support our “Emergency Food!” Programme.

Let’s meditate on the scriptures “to act justly; to love mercy and to walk humbly with our Lord” Micah 6:8, on this World Humanitarian Day.  May the Holy Spirit inspire more to be involved in humanitarian work; and commemorate those who have served so well in this area.  Amen!

Our Social Enterprise Department will run an upcycling workshop on paper crafts today for the staff of a private enterprise.  Pray that we strive to instill novel and interesting ideas through our value-added upcycling programmes as our persistent endeavor in conserving our God’s creation.

Our Centre for Refugees has geared up to run a summer programme including a camp for 29 refugee/asylum seekers’ children across the city. Pray that we help to synergize them, widen their life horizons and build up their Godly values.

Many grassroots families in Hong Kong, seriously affected by the epidemic, suffer from financial hardship.  Sadly, the emotional wellbeing of community members has been adversely impacted as a result.  Please pray for His conviction for more Christians who are prepared in season and out of season to preach His word; deliver hope and love to the desperate and lost.  Pray that more people would learn to take their worries and anxieties to our Lord as He cares for us.

Praise God!  About 2,000 parent-kid pairs from our New Arrivals Mong Kok Service Centre, Mentorship Programme and Employment Support Services Centre will be sponsored to visit a local theme park this summer. Pray that the beneficiaries will feel cherished as this may be well beyond their normal financial affordability, particularly now.

Student mentees from our 7th-phase Child Development Fund, divided into smaller groups and sessions, visited a local restaurant (offering employment for the retired elderly in Yau Ma Tei), and enjoyed a casual lunch with the seniors last week.  Pray that we will help promote mutual understanding across generations through our service.

Our Training Services Division has conducted a career talk at our headquarters this month for the trainees attending training/retraining courses in various training centres.  Pray that we continue to offer the most current job market information and career-oriented vocational training programmes for job seekers; thus, bringing them closer to fulfilling their dreams.
