Christian Action (CA) is launching “Feed the Hungry #Share Your Blessing” in-kind donation campaign to share our blessings with the grassroots families by buying/donating RICE packs with the government’s consumption e-vouchers. Pray that the beneficiaries will learn that “Man shall not live by ‘rice’ alone, but by every word that God speaks.”

Our Season of Love 2021 - mooncake charity sale is in full swing. Pray that we reap a bountiful harvest amidst the current adversity and economic setback. All proceeds will sustain our charity work for the disadvantaged and needy in Hong Kong and Qinghai. Every dollar counts!

School bells ring in most schools of Hong Kong and Qinghai this week. May God bless the new school term to start smoothly despite the current situation due to the pandemic; and that He would protect the students and school staff to stay healthy and walk steadily in His way with His word as a guiding light. Amen!

Praise God! The Solar Care Programme was accomplished at our headquarters in late August. Pray that we strive to partner with different stakeholders to promote renewable energy and play a proactive part in conserving Our Lord’s creation; and together build a greener community.

Today 24 student mentees from the Child Development Fund Mentorship Programme Long Ping Service Centre will undertake a debriefing session upon completing their 5-day experiential workforce learning mainly about medical health care, design and music performance. Pray that they would gradually understand that God has a plan to prosper them; and they choose to walk in His will.

Our Centre for Refugees Team has successfully implemented different summer programmes including camping for refugee children. Pray that the clients treasure these precious opportunities and feel the community’s love and care through our endeavours.

Next week, our Information and Technology Department will begin the computer installation and network construction for our new charity outlet in Kwun Tong. Pray the renovation will be successfully completed in time.

Last month Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director was approached by an agency serving trafficked women in red light districts of HK. CA will provide an advisory role on suitable vocational programmes for the women who want to exit this industry.  Pray for this new role and for these women to find new lives.

As the Covid-19 situation seems to have stabilized, our Child Development Fund (CDF) On Tai Service Centre has resumed its face-to-face meetings.  Pray that the team will pick up the momentum, carry out the tasks and procedures as prescribed by the Social Welfare Department; and our clients will be empowered through interaction with our staff.

Our Training Services Division (TSD) will run different workshops regularly on art therapy and acupressure massage this September.  Pray that we continue to uplift the spirit of our beloved neighbourhood despite the epidemic. Hopefully, we will also help them to live a care-free life through the diverse activities we offer.

This month, our Social Enterprise Division will launch several Green Collection Charity Drives in different private estates in Kowloon East.  Pray that we continue to partner with different stakeholders in the district and beyond to advocate environmental conservation.

As the pandemic situation seems to improve, our Employment Support Services On Tai Service Centre has restored its face-to-face counselling this September.  Pray that we strive to help our clients shed their anxieties and leave their worries to our Lord; and regain their courage and self-confidence to face the challenges ahead.

In the upcoming weekend, CATS-Alumni Club will co-organise a training workshop on First Aid, covering the principles, treatment procedures for some common injuries such as choking, sprain, burns, etc. for trainees who have completed our training programmes.  Pray that we continue to better equip our clients with different need-oriented skills.

This Saturday, a group of volunteers will participate in a DIY workshop making honey soap with 40 children from low-income families, at our headquarters. Pray that all participants feel nourished through the activity; and more partners will join hands with us to show love and care for the poor.

Tomorrow some of our shelter clients under the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme and a group of volunteers from a local church will go on an excursion to Mui Wo. Pray that they feel loved and cherished through our activities; and we strive to care for the women in distress following Jesus’s example.

Regular exercise keeps us physically and mentally healthy especially during the pandemic. Say thanks! Christian Action sponsored by Wong Tai Sin District Council has run a series of novel sports activities such as Molkky, spikeball, dodgeebee, etc. for the residents in our neighbourhood. Today is the day of the instructor’s examinations. Pray that we help instill joy, energy and community cohesion among our beloved neighbours.

Upon securing government funding, and after successful renovation, our new Kwun Tong community sales outlet under the Social Enterprise Department will be opened today. Pray that we strive to receive good-quality used items to sell through the charity outlets, earning some income to sustain our ministries for the needy.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
Please pray that the disenfranchised and disadvantaged such as migrant domestic helpers working far away from home, or refugees stranded in Hong Kong feel cared for and not alone during this festive time for family reunions. Pray that they understand that God is love; and our staff will be uplifted to serve our clients with a cheerful heart.

The epidemic over the past year has radically changed almost all aspects of our daily lives such as communication, work, study, etc. Meanwhile, the proliferation of technological applications and advancements have also given us a new norm. Yesterday, a colleague from TSD was invited to share at a workshop hosted by the HK Council of Social Service on how to enhance the younger generation in career planning with digital technology. Pray that our consistent effort in better equipping job seekers would be recognized as we believe in giving them a means to fish rather than giving them a fish.

The 9th-phase district-based CDF Mentorship Programme will be launched soon. Pray that student mentees would be coached to walk with faith in God; and to pursue their dreams with courage and colour through the programme, that they will eventually learn that He has a plan to prosper them; and give them hope.

Our young adults under the Social Welfare Institute’s Bridge Programme in Qinghai are attending workshops about cooking skills and sex education this month. Pray that they enjoy the activities and are uplifted to grow stronger and better as independent adults in the community.

Starting from this September, our Sheung Shui Service Centre has been proactively seeking job opportunities in different trades/shops such as the luncheonettes, aged homes, restaurants, retailing shops and others in the district for its clients on welfare benefits. Pray that we strive to enhance the employability of the needy nearby and to serve them to our best.

To better cater for the needs of refugees, our Centre for Refugees team is undergoing manpower restructuring and also recruiting new staff to render more needs-oriented services. Pray that the team would work as One Body and be a light to the city delivering love and care for the most marginalized group.

Our mooncake tin collection campaign, co-organized with the Sino Estates Management Group, has been in full swing gathering empty tins from its respective private housing estates and shopping malls from last week till early October. Pray that we join hands with different corporations to educate people about the importance of recycling during and after the celebration of festivals.

This month, our Ambassador Scheme for Ethnic Minority Youths team has carried out weekly outreach activities together with celebrating the mid-autumn festival at the Cherry Park, Tai Kok Tsui. Pray that our plan to get them integrated into the city will come to fruition.
