Let’s pray for joy, peace and love for the people of Hong Kong and China on the 72nd National Day of the People's Republic of China. Let’s count our blessings and meditate on the essence of “it is more blessed to give than to receive”.

Christian Action is launching our second round of “Feed The Hungry #ShareYourBlessing” in-kind donation to share our blessings with the low-income families via buying/donating packs of RICE with the government’s 2nd batch of consumption vouchers. Pray that more people will be moved to embrace our initiative and extend our help to the needy.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, was nominated by HK Christian Council to be one of the representatives in the Christian Sub-sector of the Election Committee. May God give her wisdom; and continue to use her as His channel of peace.

Our Season of Love 2021 mooncake charity sale raised some funds that will support our programmes for underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Qinghai. Blessed be those who remember the needy in this festive season.

This morning our Ambassador Scheme for Ethnic Minority (EM) Youth service team will organize an aquatic activity at Flow Academy for 10 young EM adults. Pray that it will help them in self-exploration and unleash their potential; and they would feel loved and cherished in the community.

Starting from this Friday, we will organize a series of events themed “Vibrant and Joyful Wong Tai Sin (WTS)” or 《喜動樂活黃大仙》for our beloved neighbours which include seminars and workshops on holistic art therapy, mindfulness, stretching exercises, healthy diet and others as sponsored by the WTS District Board. Pray for His presence and inspiration to address the needs of our community through our services.

This afternoon, we will co-organize an event with a private enterprise to advocate "Building up a Healthy Foundation", which includes a talk and an upcycling workshop for about 25 children, under our afterschool child-care programme, at our headquarters.  Pray that all participants would understand the importance of staying fit and healthy as our body is also a temple of the Holy Spirit.  Amen!

This evening, Mrs. Cheung will attend a webinar titled “An Overview of the National Security Law from an NGOs’ Perspective” hosted by the HK Council of Social Service (HKCSS). Pray that CA strives to be connected and updated in the welfare sector and continue to be the salt and light to the community during this transitional time in HK.
 

Today is Mentor Day in which CA participates as one of the co-organizers of a faith-based mentorship programme. Pray that more committed and compassionate Christians would be inspired to walk with the student mentees and their families and become mentors themselves, that together we instill God’s values in the younger generation so they would be impacted to live out a purposeful and Godly life.

Some young adults of the kitchen’s group under the Social Welfare Institute’s Bridge Programme in Qinghai will attend a cooking class today and then another workshop on 23rd of this month. Pray that they enjoy the activities and are empowered to grow stronger and better as independent adults.

This October, our CDF On Tai Service Centre has organized a special movie "Zero to Hero" for about 120 mentees, mentors and mentee’s parents, which was shown in 2 separate sessions. Pray that the beneficiaries would be impacted to seek God and choose to walk on a God-pleasing path in the future.

A social worker intern has joined our Sheung Shui Service Centre since mid-September; and will be interning at the centre for half a year. Pray that both the intern and Christian Action (CA) will benefit from the programme as a whole.

Give thanks! Our Mong Kok Centre started a new round of English Connect in late September as the new school year began on 1st September. It is run regularly every Saturday morning with our partner churches that offer volunteer tutors and a venue benefiting about 50 children from grassroots families in our neighbourhood. Pray that we continue to deliver light and hope to the needy as we follow Jesus Christ’s example. Amen!

Today is Chung Yeung Festival.  The Chinese usually hike on this day.  Pray that our staff enjoy their nature walks full of God’s amazing creations and are recharged and refreshed to serve the community.

Today is the last day of a one-month-long green collection campaign being co-organized with a property management corporation. Give thanks for its generous in-kind donation of 100 food packs for the poor; and for launching a collection campaign to gather mooncake tin cans, used stuff such as clothes, toys and stationery from the property management staff. Pray that such collaboration helps impart the message of 3Rs to the general public: “Reuse, Recycle and Reduce to conserve God’s creation”.

Our Centre for Refugees is waiting for approval from a potential donor to support our refugee children’s education for the new academic year.  Let’s pray for His provision of accessible educational opportunities and material needs for this marginalised community.

Pray for full divine protection and healing for all our supporters of Christian Action UK, especially amidst the current outbreak of Coronavirus and its new variants in the country.

Several clients from our Migrant Domestic Workers have submitted their new work permit applications. Pray that they will find good employers and would have peaceful minds; feel cherished and cared for through our efforts and all of them will soon be allowed to work again in the city.  

Under the current emigration tide, some of our partner churches of the CDF mentorship programme face a dilemma due to the exodus. This may negatively impact the operation of the programme in terms of availability of mentors and financial support. Pray for our steadfast faith in His provision and protection always! Amen.

Our Sheung Shui Centre has organized a series of basic job empowerment programmes, both offline and online, for our clients on welfare benefits covering the scope of inter-personal communication, interview skills, employment ordinance and job market information over the last 3 consecutive Wednesdays. Pray that we continue to provide more need-oriented initiatives for the unemployed in one of the most impoverished districts of HK.

The HK Christian Council, in which Mrs. Cheung serves as a member on its Executive Committee, will hold its Annual General Meeting today. May its members including churches from different denominations and Christian organizations be called to pray for His mercy, provision and protection for HK to withstand the challenges ahead. Amen!

This October, our Social Enterprise Department is launching several “Green Collection Charity Drives” in various private housing estates in Kowloon East.  Pray that our goodwill would spread further throughout the city and more people would embrace our green initiative.

Our Training Services Division will co-organize an experiential auxiliary police force tour tomorrow morning for about 20 EM youth.  A sharing session will be conducted by experienced Auxiliary Police staff; test demos on use of Chinese and physical fitness will be given and equipment and tactics used will be shown. Pray that we continue to empower them so they adapt better to the community.  

Let’s celebrate “United Nations (UN) Day” today themed 'The Future We Want, the UN We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism' to build a better future together through mutual communication and cooperation across borders, sectors and generations. May His word penetrate and instill hope and faith in the hearts of the public as He cares for every one of us.

Our Child Development Fund (CDF) Long Ping Service Centre is going to organize different activities such as playing board games, DIY workshop and a local tour for the mentor-and-mentee pairs this October. Pray that the young mentees understand the essence of faith, hope and love as their core pillars through this relationship.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre is promoting a part-time domestic helper matching platform for its female clients on welfare benefits who have finished their housekeeping training. Pray that we strive to enhance their employability in the neighbourhood, and help the needy nearby like the grassroots sector and single elderly.

Today our Training Services Division will host an event promoting our vocational training programme under the Employees Retraining Board and a job recruitment day at Yue Man Square jointly organized with the Kwun Tong District Board and other partners.  Pray that the job seekers will be well informed about the current job market and get employed soon. 

Let’s pray in unison that Christian Action Asia (USA) will connect committed, competent and like-minded supporters to uphold our ministry in Qinghai. May Christians in the States proactively respond to His call to embrace our Friends of Qinghai Programme.

Our final phase of installing the CAERB system for our Training Services Division to update our client’s records; and then link up to our accounting system, will be completed this month. Pray that our work efficiency would be improved and our manpower would be optimized through the system improvement.

In October, our On Tai Service Centre has been actively searching for job opportunities for our clients on welfare support in different trades and shops like the luncheonettes, restaurants, nursing homes for elders and other retail shops in the district. Pray that they would be empowered and employed through our efforts.  

Due to the epidemic, many of our formerly planned events under the 7th-phase CDF mentor programme were seriously affected by a low participation rate. We will be allowed to extend the project for 4 more months till 31st March 2022. Pray for His continuous inspiration and strength in implementing the programme that helps bring the mentor-and-mentee pairs closer; and that the relationship will thrive well beyond the programme.
