Case Story (Hong Kong)
The mother and her 8-year-old daughter live in a sub-divided flat in Tai Kok Tsui with a monthly rent of $3,500. The mother works during the day and night; she has two jobs and hopes to earn enough money to cover her living expenses.
Unfortunately, mother was forced to suspend work due to her Covid 19 diagnosis and her income plummeted. In addition, the lack of daily necessities and medicines in the home makes the situation even worse. Christian Action immediately sent an anti-epidemic kits, including: disinfection supplies, medicines and food, hoping to reduce the risk of the mother suffering from severe illness. With the assistance of CA, they have been successful in obtaining rental subsidies to alleviate their financial burdens.
Now the daughter participates in our "after-school care" service every day. She also attends an English class that we run in co-operation with the local church. In addition, CA provides them with an emergency food pack every month to ease their living burdens.
