Christian Action began its cooperation with the Qinghai Provincial Government in 1997. In May of 1998, the Xining Children’s Home opened, becoming the first children’s home to be co-managed by a charity organisation in partnership with the local government in Qinghai. In following years, additional children’s homes were established in Huangnan, Haixi, Guoluo and Hainan, providing a safe living environment for the orphaned and abandoned children in these rural areas of Qinghai.

Through the children’s homes, we provide a holistic approach to meeting the needs of each child. In addition to helping meet their most basic needs of food and shelter, Christian Action helps these children to hone their talents and skills in order to be healthy contributors to society when they grow up. We also work to strengthen their self-esteem and sense of responsibility, as well as their ability to take care of their personal needs. Some of the services utilised to accomplish these goals include home care, social work intervention, medical-services, rehabilitation training, special education, small group homes, foster care, and in some cases overseas adoption.

• Xining Children’s Home has been recongisied as a Top 10 Children’s Home at a national level. The administrative method used in the home, named the “Xining Model,” serves a model for all children’s homes throughout mainland China.
• Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) were signed under the Blue Sky Plan , through which we were asked to help develop high quality children welfare services in Qinghai. Currently, we assist to manage four children’s homes with the local government.
