Amid the global coronavirus crisis, pray that all Christian Action’s staff will persevere to serve with a humble and peaceful heart specially to help labourers in HK to find a job that’s sustainable during the economic downturn; and God will generously provide all we need and with plenty left over to share with others.

Due to the recurring wave of the pandemic, our government rolled out another Consumption Voucher Scheme in April. As there are many people struggling to meet their basic needs, Christian Action is launching an initiative “Feed the Hungry – Share Your Blessing 2022” to encourage our friends and relatives to support the deprived sector. Pray that more people will be moved to learn the essence of being “more blessed to give than to receive”.  Acts 20:35

With the relaxation of social distancing measures, our Digital Learning Centre has reopened since April. Pray that we strive to empower our neighbours who are in need. Amen!

After dealing with the pandemic for a long time, the toll is particularly hard on our medical services. Please join us in praying earnestly for the health care professionals in HK and the ongoing safety and health of all staff, board members, their families, and supporters of Christian Action! Amen!

Answered prayer
Today and the 16th of May will see the hearings of some of our shelter clients under the Migrant Domestic Programme as the tribunal courts had once been closed due to the pandemic. May God instill our clients with a gentle and calm spirit to face the challenges ahead.

This afternoon will see an online workshop known as “Blossom in the Heart” 心花綻放 funded by the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) for our clients to learn how to prepare a basket of pretty flowers as a gift of gratitude on upcoming Mother’s Day. Pray that we help others to “rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, is an elector of the Election Committee (Christian Sub-sector). The election of the 6th term of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong will be held tomorrow. May the next incumbent be blessed with His joy, peace, and love. Pray for His mercy, wisdom, provision, and protection for the city against all future challenges. Amen!

The primary 5 and 6 students under our after-school care programme will be sitting for the internal school assessments for the Secondary School Place Allocation. Pray that they feel treasured in the eyes of Our Lord; and we help instill Godly values in them through our service.

Thanks to the sponsorship of a foundation, we have been collaborating with Xccelerate to run a hybrid training on web development namedGo Digital Career, from March to June, for 20 youth to realize their dreams. Pray that we always strive to enrich job seekers with strength and skills.

To contain the spread of the epidemic, many face-to-face classes had once shifted to e-learning mode, which has become a norm. But many of our refugee children struggle to secure the necessary electronic gadgets to cope with their online schooling and home assignments. Pray for our faith in His provision and protection especially for this most-marginalized community we serve. Amen!

As the epidemic situation stabilizes, our Employment Support Services On Tai Service Centre has resumed its usual consultation service every Thursday evening in May. Pray that our service will help ease the burden of our welfare clients; and they feel enlightened and cared for to re-enter the job market with renewed drive and new skills.

Due to the stabilization of the epidemic, our Child Development Fund Mentorship Programme teams have been trying to foster networking with different partner churches. Hopefully, we join hands to coach the younger generation from the grassroots families to pursue a purposeful life pleasing to God.

Our Centre for Refugees (CFR) has been reopened to its clients after months of closure to contain the virus spread. CFR is really a home away from home in a foreign area where this most marginalized sector relies on for food, daily necessities, education, medical referrals and counselling, caring friendship, etc.

Praise God! The 2022 HK Diploma of Secondary Examination (HKDSE) has just finished. Pray that all students who sat for the HKDSE feel relieved, and they learn how to leave their worry and anxiety to our Lord for He cares; and believe that He has a plan to prosper them! Amen!

Mrs. Cheung, who serves as a member on the Executive Committee of the HK Christian Council, will attend its regular bi-monthly meeting today. Pray that all churches from different denominations in HK and Christian organizations will be united as one Body to withstand future challenges. Amen!

Partnered with a local church in Wong Tai Sin district, we will resume food packs delivery to 100 elderly and impoverished neighbours weekly as the pandemic situation has improved. Praise God for His “just enough” and “just in time” provisions to fill up the service gap in community!

To optimize our headquarters, we will improve our office floor this May. Pray for a smooth renovation adding new electric lines, telephone wires and computer sockets; thus, improving the efficiency and quality of our services to the clients and neighbours.

Please intercede for the children and staff under our China Programme team in Qinghai under the recurrent coronavirus threat. Pray especially for His protection and guidance that the children in need on the Tibetan Plateau will grow better and stronger. Amen!

Due to the severe coronavirus condition earlier in January this year, the Ecumenical Prayer Meeting with this year’s theme "We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him."  Matthew 2:2 under the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022 had been postponed to the upcoming Saturday evening. Pray for greater visible unity of Christ’s churches especially in this challenging time.
