Our Service for Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) Programme team will hold a seminar themed "digital literacy" for 30 clients today. Pray that they will be better equipped to use social media and other modern means of communication to stay connected to their families beyond HK; and feel loved and cared for through our initiative.

Last Saturday our ethnic minorities (EM) youth ambassador team was invited to host a stall with traditional costumes at a fun fair held in Wong Tai Sin. Pray that we continue to foster community integration and mutual understanding between the local Chinese and the EMs.

This year, our Centre for Refugees (CFR) organized a cultural extravaganza themed 'Dignity in Action', at PMQ in Central, to celebrate World Refugee Day and CFR’s 20th anniversary on 25th June.  Pray that we strive to arouse more public concern towards these sojourners who are anxiously waiting here for resettlement elsewhere.

Our Mong Kok Service Centre (MKC) has recently received a generous private funding for its educational support to children from vulnerable families living in sub-divided units. Pray that we continue to lessen their burden of looking after their young children; and they will feel uplifted to repay society in the future.

Starting from today, our On Tai Service Centre will organize an 8-session course on Chinese martial arts for our EM children. Pray that our persistent endeavor to empower the underprivileged and promote Chinese culture through these EM services will be very successful.

This month, our Social Enterprise Department will co-organize two ESG events focusing on Environmental, Social or Governance with 2 separate private enterprises. Pray that we continue to thrive on partnering with different corporations for green advocacy and environmental education to the public.

This afternoon sees our event named “Circle Painting” to be held at our Headquarters, to promote community cohesion on the theme “Let’s Partner between generations –Together go on the right path in the Community”《長幼齊結伴.社區GO正途》 for residents in the neighbourhood, funded by the Wong Tai Sin Home Affairs Office. Pray that we strive to improve social cohesion and a sense of belonging to the community.

Unexpectedly, the renovation plan of the new Mong Kok site has been delayed. Pray that the renovation work at the new Mong Kok Service Centre, next to the present one, will start this month. Pray earnestly for safe and smooth progress; and that the whole work will be completed soon.

Congratulations! The soft launch of our new Nam Cheong Community Outlet took place last month. Pray that our goodwill will be spread across the city and the general public realize that they would indirectly contribute to our charity work if they shop there and at the same time they would help conserve the environment.

Some of the primary 6 pupils under our after-school care programme will receive their Secondary School Place Allocation results today. Pray that they feel empowered to open a new chapter in their secondary school life soon with God’s grace and peace.

After the relaxation and resumption of cross-border travel and other measures, our China programme team will launch a 9-day visit from today to our children’s homes in Qinghai which are currently co-managed with the local authority. Pray for God’s direction, protection and seamless communication and cooperation between our team and the authority.

About 12 churches involving 200 participants enjoyed the board game contest organized by CDF On Tai Service team last Saturday. Pray that we strive to brighten the community with synergy and colour, and that more churches will join hands with us to coach the youth to seek God and choose to walk in His path.  Amen!

Summer vacation is around the corner.
Our centres providing children/youth programmes are fully geared to launch different dynamic summer activities covering games, skills enhancement, and interest classes for children from the deprived sector. Pray that we strive to lessen the grassroots families’ burden of taking care of their children as they work long hours to earn enough for subsistence.

The student mentees under our CDF Mentorship Programme started their summer classes on different musical instruments, board games and basketball in July. Pray that our younger generation will enjoy themselves, explore their potential, and realize how precious they are in the eyes of God.

In the post-epidemic era, activities for the children under our China programme have resumed. May God abundantly shower His blessings for all activities carried out at the Children’s and Youth’s homes, the related Youth Assistance Programme and especially the services in Huangnan. Amen!

During this summer vacation, our CDF teams are implementing separate camping activities for their beneficiaries. Pray for perfect weather; and that all of them enjoy their nature walks filled with God’s amazing creations; and establish some long-lasting friendships through the programme. Amen!

Following what Jesus said, “Let the children come to me… for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14, This summer, 10 children from our Mong Kok Service Centre will join a bible class co-organized by a partner church from now to 23rd July. Pray that more partner churches will join hands with us to embrace the next generation with a big heart.

May God abundantly bless all the candidates to grasp the essence of the Truth: Wisdom begins with the fear of God. Pray that the students are guided to choose wisely through our service when forging their future plan.

The acute land shortage in HK lengthens the average wait for public rental housing (PRH), and further pushes housing prices to unprecedented highs. Our government has been trying hard to relieve the housing pressure among the underprivileged groups; for instance, through light public housing projects; and increasing the supply of permanent PRH. Pray that the relevant government authority will find feasible solutions to the problem that affects many of our grassroots clients.

Our Centre for Refugees has geared up to run a summer programme including a camp for some refugee/asylum seekers’ children across the city. Pray that we help to synergize them, widen their life horizons, and build up their Godly values through our endeavours.

The consultation period to enhance the review mechanism of the city’s statutory minimum wage just ended last month. Pray for divine wisdom and sensitivity for the government authority to make the right policy to provide the grassroots people a better quality of life through improved legislation. May God also nurture their spiritual wellbeing.

Notwithstanding the negative impact of inflation and the post-epidemic era, our marketing team has been seeking fund-raising alternatives to sustain our charity work. Pray for His presence and wisdom when we are strategizing our fund-raising initiatives; so as to raise public awareness to extend a helping hand to those in desperate need.

Our Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) will reach out to the elderly in the neighbourhood this summer. Pray for inspiration and mercy for this marginalized sector; and that we strive to be the salt and light in the community and address the service gap.

One of our student mentees, under the care of the mentorship programme in Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) injured her spine in her dance class. Pray that she is in good hands and will make a full and steady recovery; and may God give her and her family comfort and inner peace at this difficult moment.

As our economy improves, the unemployment rate gradually drops. In addition to the empowerment activities offered by the Employment Support Services teams, please pray that its clients on welfare benefits would be enriched to regain their courage and job skills through our empowerment service to secure a permanent job soon.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre (SSC) is recruiting some volunteers to manage its Caregiver’s Café where the health caregivers are welcomed to shed their burdens and renew their strength. Two social activities were conducted on two alternate Wednesdays this July. Pray that we strive to walk with the impoverished as we follow Jesus Christ’s example.

Our Centre for Migrant Domestic Workers (MDW) has just been relocated to 3/F Christian Centre at St. Andrew’s Church, Kowloon, earlier this month.  Please pray that our staff and service users easily get used to this new place and that we can serve and bless the migrant domestic workers in need.  We thank God for His provision and we are grateful for St. Andrew’s Church as a continuous partner supporting our ministry.

The Information Technology Department is going to select the right computer system through our standard procurement process this month.
