Our China programme team returned safely for the 9-day visit to our children’s homes in Qinghai last month upon the relaxation and resumption of cross-border measures. Pray that we will foster good cooperation with the local government and various related parties to sustainably serve the impoverished and needy.

Our Ambassador Scheme for Ethnic Minority (EM) Youths (Urban) has been renewed for another year by the Home Affairs Department. Pray that the initiative will help fill the gap in services rendered to those neglected in the community.

Our Season of Love 2023 - mooncake charity sale is in full swing now. The early bird discount offer will last till 13 August. Pray that we will reap a bountiful harvest amidst the economic setback. All proceeds will sustain our charity work for the underprivileged.

Our ethnic minorities (EM) youth ambassador team is conducting an activity titled “Mission Possible” through playing games for about 12 EM youth every Saturday in August. Pray that we help to promote the spirit of teamwork and social integration.

Some student mentees are currently undergoing their 5-day experiential workforce learning on veterinary, design, stage performance, healthcare, catering, education and others. May God bless them to learn from this wonderful internship; understand that He has a plan to prosper them; and they will choose to walk in His will.

The renovation of our new MKC (next door to our previous one) has been accomplished and the centre is now open! Pray that our ministry will strive to be salt and light to the community and share the burden of the grassroots families. Amen!

Please pray for wisdom and clear insight for our Human Resources team in recruiting new staff to fill vacancies in various departments/service centres. We look to Jesus to bring good people with servant hearts to join Christian Action (CA). Amen!

Today is the last day for an intern serving at the Sheung Shui Service Centre. Pray that this internship will bring about a win-win scenario and benefit society as a whole. Hope that she will continue to support our ministry in future and let others know about our services.

Currently the government is reviewing the Child Development Fund (CDF) Programme which has been in operation for 15 years, in which CA has participated as a frontline service provider since its inception. Pray for His divine guidance and insight to enhance the programme and to help the holistic personal development of the younger generation from the deprived sector as we uphold what Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

As HK faces intense land shortage, HK government has been attempting to relieve the housing pressure by increasing the supply of public housing and subsidized homes under the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS). Today is the last day for the applications for purchasing over 9,000 HOS flats and others. Pray for Godly wisdom and inspiration for the government authority to ease the problem that affects many of our grassroots clients.

This summer, our EM youth ambassador team will conduct some Chinese learning classes for beginners at our service centre twice weekly. Pray that the EM children will enjoy the classes with fun and ease, which will help them to integrate in the community.

Our Social Enterprise Department will co-organize an ESG event  with an emphasis on Environmental, Social or Governance with a government department this week. Pray that we thrive on partnering with different stakeholders for green advocacy and environmental education to the public.

This summer, our CDF On Tai Service team will organize dance classes every Thursday for 24 student mentees. Pray that they learn a non-verbal means of self-expression with colour and energy; and understand how treasured they are in the eyes of our Lord.

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) will complete the audit operation at our On Tai Service Centre toady. Pray that it will be smooth and positive; and our service will meet the standard and benefit the community as a whole.

We hosted a promotional booth for our Season of Love 2023 - mooncake charity sale campaign yesterday at a Tsimshatsui shopping mall. May God bless the efforts of our outdoor charity sales promotional and direct dialogue teams that sustain our ministries for the poor and needy.

Our Training Services Division has been commended by the Employee Retraining Board (ERB) for launching the ERB programmes in its recent on-site annual auditing. Pray that we strive to offer more vocational training/retraining programmes for the trainees and job seekers to realize their dreams.

The Social Enterprise Department’s “Green Collection Programme” has been conducting several Green Collection drives at different private housing estates this month. Pray that we will seize this opportunity to educate our neighbours about the importance of “3-Rs” that includes reducing, reusing, and recycling.

In collaboration with different stakeholders in Kowloon, our EM Youth Ambassador Team has carried out regular outreach activities in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon Bay, Kwun Tong and Shamshuipo every Wednesday and Thursday night. Pray that we continue to partner with different stakeholders to build a community that upholds cultural integration and mutual respect.

Over this week, the On Tai Serve Centre CDF team has been organizing hiking activities both day and evening in Tai Po for the student mentees. Pray for the perfect weather and all of them will enjoy the nature walk; and feel cherished by our Lord when walking together with our colleagues and their mentors from the CDF Mentorship Programme.

This August, our child care and youth service teams under the Social Services Division are implementing different summer events and camps for young people. Pray that all the beneficiaries will cherish the memorable moments and feel loved and cared for by the community.

This month, our Information and Technology Department will begin the tendering procedure relating to the selection of a new computer system, to better allocate resources; like classrooms, equipment and manpower in our training services, pursuant to our standard procurement process. May God connect us with the right service provider that will optimize our resources.

Today our MKC will conduct a lawn bowl game for 50 children from disadvantaged families. May God move more kindhearted supporters to embrace the needy and poor with empathy, care and love. Amen!

Our Centre for Refugees (CFR) Team has successfully implemented different summer programmes including camping for refugee children. Pray that the clients treasure these precious opportunities and feel the community’s love and care through our endeavours.

Our China Programme team has been discussing and exploring the opportunity to cooperate with a secondary school in Tongren to co-organize a school programme in September. Pray that the younger generation will stride with confidence and joy, and gain valuable experience through the activities we organize.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, will attend a retreat of the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP) in her capacity as a board member this morning. Pray for Godly guidance and presence with them who will be united as one Body to spread hope and love to the city as its mission in this difficult time.
