Christian Action (CA) has launched the “Season of Love” Charity Cookie drive 2023-24 which is in full swing now. It is a collaborative effort combining healthy oatmeal and raisin cookies; and the illustrations on the gift box are designed by Alice B. The early bird discount will last till 4th December 2023! May God give our marketing team fresh energy and passion to sell the cookies, and may the proceeds be abundant enough to support parts of our ministries for the disadvantaged sector.

This year CA once again participates in the Kwun Tong Civic Education Ambassadors Appreciation Ceremony cum Constitution and Basic Law Learning Carnival. Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, will be one of the officiating guests of this event. Pray that CA will strive to foster community cohesion with our involvement.

Yesterday our Mong Kok Service Centre (MKC) organized an excursion titled《生命螢光》a.k.a. “Life reflection of a firefly” at Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve for some parent-and-kid pairs from the centre. Pray that all of them treasure the precious family time and enjoyed the excursion that they could otherwise hardly afford with their meagre household income.

Our Centre for Refugees secured a funding to finance its employability programme for the most marginalized sector of the community. The programme helps refugees, who have been granted permission by the Director of Immigration, using his discretionary right, to seek jobs in Hong Kong. May God move the hearts of the potential employers to join hands with us to bless the beneficiaries through this initiative.

Two local staff from our Qinghai office are visiting the Hong Kong office until mid-December. Pray that they will gain more understanding of our services in HK and take back the knowledge and skills as a contribution to the overall well-being of the vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Our Centre for Refugees, in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong, is planning an archive museum based on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, known as “Diversity Hub” at Chung King Mansions. Pray for seamless communication between different stakeholders and work progress in the near future.

A Korean church in HK will visit our MKC this week to give some Christmas presents and blessings to forty-five children from deprived families. May God bless those who are merciful to others and think of the needs of the poor during the festival!

It is time to cherish our blessings and celebrate.
Today is Christian Action’s annual Christmas staff party. Pray that all of us at CA will put aside our workload for a while; relax and enjoy these precious moments together as a big family; and meditate what “God is love” means.

As the end of the year draws near, our China Team Programme is carrying out its overall year-end programme reviews and drafting its future project plan. Pray that our ministry will strive to bring warmth and hope to the deprived and needy children on the Tibetan Plateau. Amen!

Today our Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) Programme Team will collaborate with Aids Concern and others for the last round of Migrant’s Health Day in 2023. They will offer free medical checkups, health education and consultation for about one hundred MDWs at Yuen Long Park. Pray that they will learn the importance of honouring God with their health. Amen!

This month, our Social Enterprise Department will host two community green carnivals sponsored by the Housing Authority in different public housing estates. Pray that we continue to promote community integration and environmental preservation through our constant endeavors.

Our Board meeting cum AGM will be held today. Pray for His continuous direction, wisdom, and providence for CA through our dedicated board members who support our ministry for the vulnerable and needy both in HK and Qinghai.

Today the Sheung Shui Service Centre (SSC) will hold a workshop on Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance focusing on common lower extremity muscle injuries: the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Pray that the public will recognize our efforts in imparting the importance of work-related safety, health risk prevention and God’s protection, always. Amen!

Parallel to the regular weekly outreach activities, our Ambassador Scheme for the Ethnic Minority (Urban) team will conduct an interview with a few respondents. Hopefully, we will gain a better understanding of the life of an EM in Hong Kong from the EM’s perspective. May our work in making the voice of the voiceless heard enhance social integration.

Today our On Tai Service Centre will host a festive celebration for its clients on welfare benefits. May all participants including the locals and new arrivals be blessed to experience Godly love and mutual understanding through the activities they join.

Our Social Enterprise Department will be launching two activities under “Green Collection Charity Drives” in different private housing estates in our neighbourhood in these 2 weeks. Pray that our goodwill would spread further throughout Hong Kong and more people would embrace our green collection programme.

Please pray in unison that we raise enough funds for establishing a children’s centre in Tongren Qinghai offering after-school care service for the disadvantaged children. Pray for its successful implementation; and that together we help the youth grow healthier and stronger.

We have placed some more donation boxes in a local household product chain store until the end of January 2024. Pray that we garner enough financial support for our ministries in this critical moment. Every dollar matters to us and our beneficiaries!

Tragically, some teen suicides were reported in the city over the past few months. Two of the teens happened to study at the same school as several mentees of our phase-9 CDF (9CDF) programme. Please pray the spirit of the Lord will comfort the deceased teenager’s parents and families; and that we can reach out to the broken-hearted and walk with them. Amen!

20 mentees of our CDF-On Tai Service Centre (CDF-OTSC) will learn more about the pet care industry and animal volunteer work by visiting the SPCA and House of Joy and Mercy in these 2 days. Pray that we strive to partner with different industries to offer the younger generation some new insights in career aspiration and interest exploration.

Our Training Services Division will launch a seminar on the industry of the “Modern bride’s chaperone” 摩登大妗員 this afternoon. Pray that our great effort in providing enrichment training programmes and job market information will empower job seekers; and they will understand how precious they are in the eyes of Our Lord.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Please pray that the disenfranchised and disadvantaged such as migrant domestic helpers working far away from home, or refugees stranded in Hong Kong would feel cared for and not alone, especially at a time that reminds people of family reunions. Pray that they feel embraced by Godly love when they stay far from their hometown by choice or by chance. Amen!

Pray that we help our clients to broaden their life horizons and unleash their potential to their fullest with confidence and vigour.

Pray for more people, regardless of race, age, gender, or religion, to embrace our goal to help the needy, helpless, and marginalized in Hong Kong and Qinghai. In addition, that Christians will follow Our Savior Jesus Christ’s example to love and care for the disadvantaged. Amen!

Soaring inflation has aggravated the problems of livelihood of many vulnerable families under our CDF programme, especially those in the Northern District. Our CDF team in the Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) has helped three client families to apply for funding to ease part of their financial burden. Pray that our ministry will strive to be salt and light to the community and share the burden of the grassroots sector. Amen!

Let us party and celebrate! Our CDF-On Tai Service Centre will hold a music show for all mentors, mentees, and their parents under the big umbrella of CDF programme today. Pray that the relationship of mentor-and-mentee pairs will be enhanced, and all participants will enjoy the precious time together; and eventually the young generation and their families will be coached to seek God through this impactful programme.

This evening, SSC will organize an open top bus tour in Tsim Sha Tsui for welfare recipients. Pray that more people will recognize our efforts to uplift the needy in the northern district of HK. May all participants be blessed with peace, joy, and love.

Some post-CDF (former phase-7 CDF) youth from the Long Ping Service Centre will organize an overnight wild camp in Sai Kung for twenty mentees of the phase-9 CDF programme over this weekend. Pray that all of them will enjoy and learn how to live a vibrant life when walking with our team.
