Today is examination day for our clients on welfare benefits from the On Tai Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre who have undertaken a first-aid course. Pray that they will be empowered through our services to re-enter the job market with courage and skills.

Praise God!
Christian Action (CA) Scholarship for Excellence (CASE) Award Presentation Ceremony was held on the day before yesterday at our headquarters. Twenty-five of our former students under the youth care services, who sat for the Diploma of Secondary Examination (DSE) last year, will be commended for their personal growth and academic attainment despite facing adversity and life challenges. Pray that these youngsters from grassroots families will be better equipped through our endeavor and support; and will repay the community through their talents upon graduating from university.

Our Ethnic Minorities (EM) Youth Ambassador team will conduct a series of events for team building. Pray that all team members will be unified to serve the clients with one heart and one mind; and they personally feel loved and cared for.

Please continue to pray for the smooth progress and seamless communication in establishing the new children’s centre in Qinghai, which will provide after-school care service for disadvantaged children as we strive to eliminate the poverty cycle.

The Year of the Dragon is around the corner!
The Social Enterprise Division has been jointly running a one-month-long green collection event with a property management corporation until 19th February. Pray that the partnership helps arouse public awareness of the importance of pre-Lunar New Year cleaning, and benefits the poor. Amen!

A few parent-child pairs under our Child Development Fund (CDF) Mentorship Programme will attend 2 DIY workshops on making Lunar New Year decorations today and tomorrow. Pray that we strive to promote intergenerational communication and mutual understanding through our programme; and that the participants will be impacted to seek God through these efforts.

Please pray fervently for successful staff recruitment for vacancies for Information and Technology (IT) support, computer programming and AV technicians in the IT Department and vacancies for other departments. May God connect the right people to the right jobs; and we look up to Jesus Christ to bring good people with servant hearts to join CA.

Our “Red Packet for Every Home campaign” 「家+家有利是」慈善活動 will kick off from tomorrow till 9th March with a view to inspiring more school kids to donate their red packets (or “Lai See”) to aid the less fortunate and needy in Hong Kong. Pray that they learn the essence of It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

Blessed year of the Dragon!
When we celebrate family reunions, marginalized sojourners, particularly refugees and migrant domestic workers living in our shelters bear daily mental and emotional stress during the festivities. May they be personally comforted by God’s presence, provision and protection. Amen!

CA will continue SOL–CNY Blessing Bags Charity Sale until the end of this month: cookies are still for sale to encourage the public to purchase the ‘Blessing Bags’ to give to the poor. These Blessing Bags are given directly to disadvantaged families, the elderly and street-sleepers. Pray that more Christians will be touched to embrace this initiative; in a bid to support the needy through our actions, especially during Lunar New Year.

Please pray in unison for our China Programme team that we will find favour with the local authority and obtain a green light for the 2024 plan; and that we strive to enhance the well-being of the needy children and youth from the deprived sector on the Tibetan Plateau.

Since the return to normalcy in the post-epidemic era, a significant number of children from our New Arrivals Service Centre have returned to their hometowns in mainland China for the first time during the Lunar New Year holidays. Pray for safe travels and happy reunions with their extended families.

Hong Kong Christian Council, in which Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, serves as an Executive Committee member, will launch its Ash Wednesday Worship this evening. Pray that the congregation and more Christians will be inspired to extend their helping hands to the needy, especially the left-behind children or orphans in impoverished parts of China.

The registration for our 3-Legged Charity Nordic Walk will end on 23rd February. Pray that this annual fundraiser will not just garner financial support for our ministries, but also raise public awareness towards the plight of the underprivileged.

Today our On Tai Service CDF team will host two different activities: home visits to some seniors who live by themselves and 20 CDF children mentees at On Tai Estate; and a workshop themed love language for their parents to improve parent-and-child communication. Pray that all participants will meditate on the essence of the scripture: We too will serve the LORD, because he is our God.” Joshua 24:18b.

Our EM Ambassador Scheme team continues to conduct different activities including war games, board games and sports for EM youth this month. Pray that we strive to enrich and empower them to integrate into the community with greater ease; and cherish how precious they are in the eyes of our Lord.

Please pray for the results of several fund-raising proposals recently submitted by our Centre for Refugees (CFR) which struggles to get enough funding to support our ministry for the most-marginalized sector in the city. Pray for our steadfast faith in His providence and protection as we believe: Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. Jeremiah 17:7 Amen!

Our Social Enterprise Department will co-host with the Housing Authority a community carnival in Chai Wan for the residents to rejoice together. Pray that all participants will feel uplifted by a joyful and cohesive community that they play a significant part in building.

Pray that more members of the public will be moved to embrace mercy, justice and human dignity transcending nationality, race, religion, and disability by His word. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. Matthew 5:10

Our CDF teams will collaborate with churches from Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun to form a new youth ministry centred on the art of coffee. Pray for its smooth implementation; and that the collaboration will spark novel ministry ideas. Amen!

Starting from today, we will run a handicraft stall assisted by some of our clients on welfare benefits from the Sheung Shui Service Centre at the Chinese Lantern Festival Fair for 3 days. Pray that the beneficiaries will grasp the chance to explore their talents; thus, empowering themselves through our efforts. Pray that they will find long-term employment soon.

Tomorrow will see a retreat for CA’s Board of Directors. Pray for Godly guidance and presence with them to unite as one Body to spread love and hope to the city as our mission despite the challenges ahead. May God grant them wisdom to lead CA in a way that is in His will. Amen!

The bidding result of the training programmes 2024-25 under the Employee Retraining Board will be announced this month. Pray for His continual insight, provision, and protection as we strive to offer more demand-oriented training and retraining courses for job seekers and those looking for career advancements since we believe in ‘giving them a means to fish rather than giving them fish.’

Our Mong Kok Service Centre jointly launched a kick-off ceremony of a supportive programme with a bank, titled Stride for the Future for 300 deprived households, mainly single-parent families with children under 18 dwelling in sub-divided units in Sham Shui Po last Sunday. Pray that we will collaborate with different parties to share the burden of those in need so that they feel loved and cared for by the community.

Our Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) service team organized the final round of the Lunar New Year culinary competition for the MDWs in Hong Kong for making water chestnut cake last week. Pray that the participants will learn more about the Chinese festivals and tradition through our efforts, helping them to overcome homesickness and feel cherished especially during the festive time.

Our Long Ping Service Centre held various workshops themed the Personal Development Plan, an essential element of the Mentorship Programme, for student mentees. Pray that the team will be empowered with His divine wisdom and strength to coach the mentees to map out their future plan and choose to walk on His path. Amen!
