We will hold a community carnival to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China today. Some rice packs and mooncakes will be distributed to a total of 240 senior neighbours. Pray that more philanthropists will join us to show love and care to the deprived.

Our On Tai Employment Support Services Centre has recently secured public funding for the district-based Integration Programme that aims to help new arrivals from the Mainland (NAs) to better understand Hong Kong, and to equip them through engaging in voluntary service; so as to help them integrate into society with ease.

Tomorrow let’s embrace the International Day of Charity and put it into action. It was established by the United Nations with the objective of sensitizing and mobilizing people, NGOs, and stakeholders all around the world to help to alleviate poverty worldwide through volunteer and philanthropic activities. Pray that compassionate Christians/people would be called upon to follow what is said in the bible: To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 Amen!

Our Social Enterprise Department co-organized an ESG workshop with an emphasis on the Environment, Society and Governance with a private corporation last week. Pray that we strive to partner with different stakeholders for green advocacy and environmental education to the public.

Mrs. Cheung will start a week-long visit to Qinghai from today. Pray that we continue to find favour with the local authorities to enhance the well-being of the needy children and youth from the deprived sector on the Tibetan Plateau.

We will conduct the “Post-50 Internship Programme” under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) this month. Pray that this would help equip elderly trainees with updated job skills and self-confidence to re-enter the job market with renewed know-how, vigor and drive. Amen!

Please pray in unison for the smooth construction and timely handover of the “Diversity Hub” at Chung King Mansions. It is a novel collaboration between our Centre for Refugees and the University of Hong Kong that archives the lives of the EMs in HK. Pray that the project will enhance social integration and mutual understanding. Amen!

Our Child Development Fund-Long Ping Service Centre (CDF-LPSC) will stage a band performance and for mentees to enjoy a cup of coffee to be served by the coffee-making team tomorrow to showcase the mentees’ talents and what they achieved from the summer interest classes. Pray for its smooth implementation and that all mentees will build up their confidence and sense of teamwork and enjoy the memorable moments!

Today begins our mooncake tin collection initiative, co-organized with a property management group, to collect empty tins from its private housing estates till 9th October. Pray that we will cooperate seamlessly with more corporate partners to educate people about the importance of recycling during and after festive celebrations.

Our Ethnic Minorities Youth Ambassador (EMAm) team is conducting an initiative titled “Blossom Gurus” that arranges several horticulture classes in September for EM youth. Hopefully, this introduces a new therapeutic way for clients to shed their burdens, build patience through horticultural practices, and understand “there is an appointed time for everything – His timing”.

Currently we have secured public funding for the School-based After-school Learning and Support Programmes in different service centres for the upcoming academic year. Pray that we strive to lessen the grass-roots families’ burden of taking care of their children as they must work long hours to earn enough for subsistence.

The CATS-Alumni Club of our Training Services Division will hold a festive celebration at HK Disneyland today for its members. Pray that all participants will enjoy the activities and stay tuned to the labour market, through our well-tailored vocational training and re-training programmes. Amen!

Please join us to pray for the employability programme for clients at the Centre for Refugees. The programme aims to help recognized refugees, who have been granted permission by the Director of Immigration, using his discretionary right, to seek jobs in Hong Kong. May God move the hearts of potential employers/enterprises to join hands with us to bless this marginalized sector in the community through this initiative.

Give thanks. Today is the last day of the summer project organized by our Qinghai team in Shuangzhai Village where a fun time and inter-personal communication skills were shared with the children. Pray that our goodwill to empower the disadvantaged community will spread far and wide. Amen!

The Ethnic Minorities Youth Ambassador (EMAm) team has been organizing different activities, both indoors and outdoors, ranging from board games, cycling and sports activities for EM kids from different areas. Pray that this is a time of fun, where friendships are formed, and that the EM kids gain insight into God’s love through our ministry.

Our Information and Technology Department will start a new computer system by the end of this month to improve the utilization of resources such as classrooms, equipment and manpower for our training services. Pray that the system upgrade will be launched on schedule and finally enhance our work efficiency and quality of services rendered to our service users.

A new batch of the Child Development Fund (CDF) mentorship programme Team will begin soon. Pray that children from the deprived families (targeted age group from primary school 3 to 6) will be recruited; and that committed and caring Christians will be touched and connected to walk with them as mentors. Eventually more families will be blessed by this 3-year programme and coached to walk with faith in God and eventually learn that He has a plan to prosper them. Amen!

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre will host a seminar titled as “The Most Powerful Intrinsic Strength – Meaning and Challenges Women face at Work” (最強底氣─工作對女性的意義和挑戰) today for about 10 CSSA clients. It focuses to elaborate the pros and cons of a job to a woman in HK nowadays. Pray that the participants will be enriched to enter the job market with renewed vigor, leading to a life full of positivity and possibilities.

Please pray earnestly that our Mong Kok Service Centre secures a funding application for the youth with special education needs (SEN). Hopefully we strive to seek more opportunities to stimulate public awareness of needy families with SEN children and collaborate with related professionals for early intervention.

Our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme Team will co-organize with a church the Migrant’s Health Day today in Ma On Shan Park. This outreach activity aims to offer free medical checkups and health education for migrant domestic workers. Pray that the initiative will stress the importance of honouring God for the migrant domestic workers by keeping themselves healthy and sound.

The Chief Executive of the HKSAR will deliver his third Policy Address this October. Please continue to pray for His divine wisdom, creativity and sensitivity for the government authorities so as to tactfully deal with challenges, seen and unseen.
