Please pray for the resumption of all programmes operated normally for this most-marginalized refugee community after the summer break as we made good use of our limited manpower and resources for the summer projects. Pray for our steadfast faith in His providence and protection, always.

Our Mong Kok Service Centre has recently secured the SWD’s funding for the Enhanced After School Care Support Programme extending services to 7 days weekly for primary school pupils from the disadvantaged sector. Pray that we strive to lessen the burden of these parents in taking care of their children as work long hours to make ends meet.

Praise God! Christian Action (CA) has the opportunity to preach His Word and be prepared in season and out of season and enrich the holistic development of our staff, not to mention their spiritual wellbeing. At present we are launching the CA Alpha Workplace at the On Tai Service Centre (OTSC). Pray that we serve and glorify Him through staying aligned with the Bible and spreading the gospel through the Holy Spirit and our fervent faith in HIM.

Hooray!
We are ready to embark on recruiting the children mentees and dedicated mentors for our new batch of the mentorship programme under the Child Development Fund (CDF). Pray that all the processes will go smoothly, and render a blessing to the needy families via this 3-year programme; and our supporters will also respond compassionately to God’s call to share the recruitment information with potential families and churches.

Today will end our one-month-long mooncake tin collection initiative, co-organized with a property management group, to collect empty tins from its private housing estates. Please pray that we stimulate public awareness towards the concept and practice of recycling during and after festive celebrations; and together we contribute to environmental preservation.

The World Health Organization (WHO) signifies today as World Mental Health Day with a view to raising public awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts to enhance mental wellbeing. Pray that through our ministries and services more people will subtly learn how to shed their burdens and trust in the Lord for he cares for every one of us. Amen!

According to Chinese tradition, people often go hiking on this day to avoid misfortune. Pray that our staff will enjoy their nature walks packed with the wonders of God’s creations, get refreshed, and feel relaxed to serve the community with a recharged mind and spirit.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre (SSC) is organizing two sewing classes for welfare benefit clients this month. Pray that, through learning to make gorgeous handicrafts, they personally understand themselves better; and know how special they are in the eyes of our Lord. Finally, that they will regain their self-confidence and skills to live an independent and colourful life. Amen!

Starting from October, a new location will be added to the list of our donation boxes which are normally placed on the counters of the retailing outlets/institutes. Pray that we can garner enough financial support for our ministries in this difficult moment. Amen!

Please continue to pray for the smooth progress of the “Diversity Hub” at Chung King Mansions to be launched as scheduled, which operates in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong, as an archive museum about the EMs in Hong Kong. Funded by the Home Affairs Development (HAD), our OTSC will launch an initiative to deliver food packs and daily stuff for its needy EM neighbours this October. Pray that we strive to reach out to more deprived sectors who will feel loved and cared for by the community. Amen!

The SSC has conducted two separate activities for its welfare benefit clients to learn more about the normal operation of our SED’s Charity outlet in Sheung Shui this month. Hopefully, they would be equipped with the job skills and courage to secure full-time employment very soon. Pray that we strive to empower the vulnerable sector through our ministry. Amen!

Today is the 70th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the HK Christian Council (HKCC), in which Mrs. Cheung, being a member of its Executive Committee, also serves as one of the readers on that day. May God continue to shower His blessings on HKCC’s ministries as every member in the denominations/agencies will be unified to glorify His name. Amen!

Our On Tai Employment Support Services Centre has recently organized a 2-day interflow with social welfare agencies mainly in elderly and women’s support services in the Greater Bay Area for its women clients. Pray that it would help the welfare clients to widen their life horizons and enrich mutual understanding. Amen!

In October, our Social Enterprise Department will hold several green collection drives in different housing estates in Kowloon. Pray that we will continue to promote community integration and environmental preservation through our advocacy.

Our SSC will collaborate with the SWD’s Working Group for the Tai Po & the Northern District Carer’s Support System to promote the Carer’s Month, to offer some training in voluntary work and tea culture for the health carers. Hope that the beneficiaries will feel empowered; and learn empathy and what the scripture says about serving: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

Our Social Enterprise Department will run an ESG event emphasizing the Environment, Society and Governance with the corporate partners today; and 240 blessing bags will be distributed to the beneficiaries. Pray that we strive to partner with different stakeholders to promote community cohesion, green advocacy and environmental education.

Our EM youth ambassador (EMAm) team is conducting a cultural sensitivity talk to raise cultural sensitivity towards the EM sector in a local vocational institute. Pray that we continue to foster community cohesion through our constant efforts.

Our CDF Long Ping Service Centre will host a board game activity for the student mentees this weekend. Pray that we strive to brighten the community with fun time, synergy and diversity, and finally the youth are coached to seek God and choose to walk in His path. Amen!

Eighty children under our afterschool childcare support programme will attend a workshop at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre this week. Pray that they feel the community care and gradually learn that God has a plan to prosper them and their families through the services we offer.

Let’s continue to pray for the China team to recruit compassionate staff as we are dedicated to improve our services to children/youth from the impoverished sector in Qinghai. Overall please pray for CA’s sustainability in due changes of policies locally. Amen!

Our Information Technology Department is preparing the tendering procedure, adherent to ERB’s requirements, to replace the computers in some of our training centres by the end of this October. Pray for the smooth and successful implementation so as to improve our service quality. Amen!

Our EMAm organized a special party with characteristics of Bollywood including dance, food and Bollywood movies for its EM clients last Saturday the 26th. Pray that our persistent endeavors to foster community integration and mutual understanding transcends diversity in races, cultures, religions and others in the city.

Our MDWs Service Programme team is purchasing bunk beds for the shelter. Pray for the smooth replacement procedure and that all of the shelter clients will have some good sleep as they endure anxious moments during the litigation process. Amen!

Today our Training Services Division will host a job fair funded by the Employees Retraining Board (ERB), titled “A Journey in Seeking the Pay-jobs” 「職場薪旅程」 , at the Amoy Plaza. Pray that the attendees will obtain more updated information about the job market as well as our self-enrichment vocational training and retraining programmes. Amen!

Our SSC organized a tea gathering to appreciate the voluntary work done by our welfare recipients at its Café Corner for the health carers earlier this month. May God continue to shower us with His insight and strength to improve this ministry and the public would recognize us as we follow Jesus Christ’s example to deliver love and care for the deprived sector.
