Today is the first gathering for the new batch of mentors and mentees of the Mentorship Programme under the Child Development Fund (CDF). Hopefully, this will open up a chance for establishing new friendships that embody Godly love and care for the needy children from the deprived sector.

The Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC) will hold the Ash Wednesday Worship tomorrow. Pray that the congregation and more Christians will be inspired to extend a helping hand to the victims of the Myanmar flooding and pray for them.

The World Day of Prayer is conventionally scheduled in early March. This day will be held tomorrow themed “I Make You Wonderful.” Through this event, Christians from over 170 countries always gather to worship and pray for justice and peace, especially for women and children. May Godly hope and love dwell in every Christian heart all over the world so that as Christians we can make impactful changes for the better.

Today will be the last day of our “Red Packet (or “Lai See”) for Every Home campaign” 「家+家有利是」慈善活動. We are grateful to have succeeded in collecting some full donation boxes from participating schools! The initiative aims to encourage school kids to share their blessings to aid the less fortunate and needy in HK. Pray that they learn what God said, “Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.” Deuteronomy 15:10

Women especially refugees and Migrant Domestic Worker mothers estranged from their families by choice or by chance may feel even more stressed at this difficult time. Eco-concern Group advocating Creation Care, a sub-group under the Justice and Social Concern Committee (JSCC), in which Mrs. Cheung serves as a chairperson, organized a seminar themed “Rebuilding the relationship between God's creation and His people” last Tuesday. JSCC is one of the committees under the Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC). Pray that its constant effort in environmental conservation will instill the right attitude and mindset about nature conservancy in all Christians and beyond. Amen!

A professional association will visit clients dwelling in sub-divided units under the care of the Mong Kok Service Centre this month. Pray that the public will understand the plight of the disadvantaged sector and be moved to give a helping hand through their expertise and financial aid. Amen!

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre (SSC) will run a workshop on self-exploration through interactive games or activities for our clients on welfare benefits today. Pray that this will better equip them in mapping out their career plan in future; and they will get long-term employment soon.

We will hold the 3-Legged Easter Island Adventure, our annual charity walk, at the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club on Saturday 12th April. Pray for perfect weather so that this annual fundraiser will not just garner financial support for our ministries, but also raise public awareness towards the predicament of the underprivileged both in HK and Qinghai, and the participants enjoy a wonderful adventure in nature.

System-wise, we are transferring data between Cashbook system and Epicor now. Pray for a seamless and smooth transfer; and that the new accounting system will successfully go live in April. Subsequently, this will improve our overall efficiency and service quality. Amen!

This year, our Training Services Division (TSD) has received three Employees Retraining Board’s (ERB) corporate awards and other individual ones at its award presentation recognizing our services for the unemployed and underemployed. We have retrained and placed numerous people in better jobs! Amen!

Our EMAm team will organize a wide range of activities from baking classes to outdoor/indoor sports games like Taekwondo classes during Friday evenings and Saturdays. Pray that all our efforts will provide the clients better chances to adapt to the local community with ease and fun.

Our CDF Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) has organized an open-top double-decker bus tour from Sheung Wan to Tsim Sha Tsui for the new batch mentees as the first activity of the programme. Hopefully, this helps to instill Godly values in our younger generation through this 3-year initiative as we uphold “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. Proverbs 22:6 and they will have a wonderful and fruitful experience. Amen!

The Diversity Hub, a mini museum to feature EM communities in HK will be opened soon. The tour in the Hub will be guided by EM youth empowered by our enrichment programme at Chung King Mansions. Pray that we strive to enhance cross-cultural understanding and community cohesion through our constant efforts.

Our EM service team of the On Tai Service Centre (OTSC) has launched a new Chinese book reading session under its tutorial class. Pray for His inspiration and wisdom to enrich our EM clients to learn Chinese in a more interesting and lively manner, so they will adapt to the community with ease.

We have secured public funding from the Community Care Fund for running the School-based After School Care Service Scheme (Expanded Programme) at our Choi Wan Centre for a school in the vicinity from March to the end of August. Pray that we aid to lessen the burden of the disadvantaged families as many of them have to work long time to subsist. Amen!

Our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme team has currently hosted a seminar on “Image Based Sexual Violence.” Pray that we help to stimulate our clients’ awareness towards sexual harassment; and understand the importance of protection measures.

“In HK, seasonal influenza is in its full swing, with a surge in cases predicted to last until April,” reported our government who strongly recommend the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
