Last month our Mong Kok Service Centre successfully expanded to another premises next to the present one. It has been immediately used for our after-school care programme! Pray that we continue to share part of the grassroots families’ burden of taking care of their children as they work long hours to earn enough for subsistence.

Hallelujah!
This evening we will hold a fundraising gala dinner celebrating the 20th anniversary of our service for refugees programme. May the Holy Spirit inspire more to get involved in humanitarian work; and commemorate those who have served so well in this area. Amen!

We have been exploring different opportunities to collaborate with government departments and other stakeholders to serve the ethnic minority (EM) sector in Kowloon East. Pray earnestly for His provision and direction to sustain our ministry and help the ethnic minority integrate into the community with ease.

In these 3 days, our mentees from the Child Development Fund (CDF) Programme organized an escape room game at the On Tai Service Centre (OTSC)! Pray that we strive to raise the self-enhancement of the mentees and they feel cherished in the community through our organization.

From this November, the Sheung Shui Service Centre has embarked on the district-based afterschool learning and support service for students in this academic year. Pray that we help them to strike the right balance between study and play, as well as right life-values as we believe in “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

After learning some stretching exercises, some CDF mentees started serving the senior residents of the On Tai Estate since last Saturday. Pray that the mentees also learn inter-generational communication skills; thus, understanding the scripture message in action “more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

Tomorrow our Training Services Division will conduct a career experiential workshop titled “Navigating a Career Turning Point” 「職」刻有轉機 to promote our ERB training courses. Pray that our consistent effort in enriching the trainees or job seekers of all ages, race, religious or educational background, would be recognized as we believe in giving them a means to fish rather than giving them fish.

Today is World Adoption Day! May our adopted children and their families in China and worldwide be blessed to grow stronger and better. Pray that all the displaced and abandoned children would be blessed to be adopted by loving families; and they feel treasured and loved.

Please continue to pray that we will raise enough funds for the youth assistance supporting students ranging from secondary school to tertiary education in Qinghai province to further their studies and daily needs. Pray that we aid to transform lives through education, and that they will live an independent life by breaking out of the poverty cycle.

In November, our Social Enterprise Department will hold two separate community green carnivals sponsored by the Housing Authority in public housing estates in the New Territories. Pray that we will continue to promote community integration and environmental preservation through our advocacy.

Our CDF-OTSC will run three board game activities today and the next 2 Mondays in November themed understanding emotion for about 30 CDF student mentees under the mentorship programme. May His Word penetrate their hearts and instill hope and faith; more important is that they learn to shed their fears and worries onto Him as He cares for everyone of us.

Our EM youth ambassador team is conducting a series of talks to raise cultural sensitivity towards the EM sector in a local vocational institute. Pray that we continue to foster community cohesion through our constant effort and advocacy.

Our China Programme team is exploring the chance to organize some training programmes focusing on good character building at the children’s centres in Tongren, Huangnan. Pray that we will help improve the overall well-being of the disadvantaged children; and they will work hard to achieve their best results in the future.

The Training Services Division will host its 30th Anniversary Corporate Luncheon today. Pray that we strive to offer more updated training and retraining programmes for our corporate partners and valuable vocational training to better equip job seekers as well.

Our EM service team will launch a series of training classes for the EM ambassadors to improve their skills of social networking and communication among themselves and between people of different ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. Pray that we strive to enhance joy, vigor, and community cohesion across the city.

Our China Programme team is preparing the annual programme report which will conclude this November. Pray that all initiatives will succeed and our persistent endeavor to empower the young generation on the Tibetan Plateau will be recognized and well supported. Amen!

Today our Migrant Domestic Workers (MDW) Service Team will continue to co-organize a workshop with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for 40 Indonesian migrant domestic workers on smart utilization of social media. Pray that these ladies will feel loved and cared for through our services.

Our EM Youth Ambassador Team is implementing regular outreach activities in different parts of Hong Kong twice weekly. Pray that we strive to build a community that upholds cultural integration, mutual respect and understanding. Amen!

Our OTSC will organize a retreat for the teams today to boost positive psychology and team spirit. Pray for its successful implementation and that all participants would be uplifted both physically, mentally and spiritually to serve the clients with joy and vigor despite the challenges ahead.

To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Christian Council, in which Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP serves on its Executive Committee, an ecumenical concert – God’s Light Fills the Earth will be held today. It will also raise funds to support charity programmes for needy children in South East Asia. Blessed to have this opportunity to present a unified witness to God's love showering the world.

In November, the OTSC has kicked off a new project, EM Power 2023, consisting of five local teenagers and five EM, with a view to fostering social cohesion and a sense of belonging to the neighbourhood. Pray that all participants enjoy the activities; and learn how to embrace diversity through mutual understanding and respect.

The Training Services Division will organize different DIY workshops e.g., dried flower pictures and natural shampoo for welfare benefit clients at OTSC this month.
