Christian Action’s (CA) “Season of Love” Charity Cookie drive 2024-25 was launched in November; it is a collaborative initiative combining cookies and illustrations on gift boxes designed by Helen Tam, a local illustrator. The early bird campaign will last till 13 December 2024. Pray for God’s blessings for our marketing team to have the energy and passion to sell the cookies, and may the proceeds be abundant to support our ministries for disadvantaged communities. Amen!

We co-organized with the Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) and Hong Kong Quality And Talent Migrants Association the Fai Chun workshop on 29th November for 12 children from grassroots families under our afterschool care programme at the Christian Action Centre (CAC). Pray that the participants will enjoy and learn Chinese culture like calligraphy and have fun. The finished Fai Chun will be presented to our elderly neighbours as a blessing. Pray that all beneficiaries feel loved and cherished through our service.

CA’s board meeting cum AGM will be held today. Pray for His continuous direction, wisdom, and providence through our dedicated board members and colleagues who share the same mission and vision of caring for the vulnerable and needy both in HK and Qinghai.

Our Information Technology Department will launch the Smart Classroom Scheduling System (SCSS), a new computer system, which helps us to better utilize our resources such as classrooms, equipment and manpower for our training services. Pray that this system will enhance our work efficiency and quality of services rendered to our service users. Amen!

Today there’s a retreat for Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC) at Tao Fung Shan, in which Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, serves as a member on its Executive Committee. Pray for His divine direction, guidance and peace for them to unify as one Body to spread faith, hope and love to the city. Amen!

Today is CA’s Christmas Party. Pray that it will be held smoothly, and all staff & board members will have a lot of fun and make sweet memories; and a sense of belonging will be fostered through celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Saviour whom we look up to and rely on.

Sing Hallelujah!
Today sees the soft opening of the “Diversity Hub” at Chung King Mansions: a venue that invites Hongkongers and foreigners to understand the local EM community, through a mini museum guided by EM youth, who we have empowered to serve as tour guides. Pray that more members of the public will realize our commitment to serving minorities in this way and with our ministry to achieve mutual understanding and social cohesion. Amen!

Our Social Enterprise Department will co-organize several ESG events highlighting Environmental, Social or Governance issues with the Housing Authority this month. Pray that we continue to partner with different stakeholders in the community for green advocacy and environmental education to the public. Amen!

Tomorrow our On Tai Service Centre (OTSC) will host a job fair titled “Grab a Job.Job recruitment in Residential Homes and the Service Sector” (安泰再出擊.院舍及服務行業招聘會) for its clients on welfare benefits. Meanwhile on-the-spot job interviews, job sharing, vocational training programmes under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) and others will be offered. Pray for His wisdom and connection that we will facilitate the right matching and employment opportunities for residents who seek long-term employment.

Today is International Human Rights Day propagating the message of equality, dignity, and freedom for all humans in the world. Pray, in particular for the refugees and domestic helpers we serve, and remind us to advocate harmony and inclusion transcending diversity in race, religion, and territory. Amen!

Yesterday one of our Ethnic Minorities Ambassadors (EMAm) attended an event on child protection at the Yau Tsim Mong Multi- Cultural Centre, hosted by the Social Welfare Department (SWD), as an emcee and a guest speaker. Pray that CA always contributes to stimulating public awareness on child abuse and protection; and together we foster community cohesion through our persistent effort and advocacy.

Christmas is just around the corner!
Today our Mong Kok Service Centre will host a Christmas celebration, sponsored by a church, for 46 children clients. May all participants including the volunteers, locals and new arrivals be blessed to experience Godly love and know Jesus Christ through the activities they join.

This afternoon we will hold a community green carnival for residents to rejoice and to promote the ERB training programmes in Choi Wan Estate. Pray that all attendees will feel uplifted by a youthful, joyful and cohesive community that plays a significant part in building society.

Our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme Team will organize the Migrant’s Health Day today at Kowloon Park. This outreach activity aims to offer free medical checkups and health education for migrant domestic workers. Pray that we stress the importance of keeping ourselves fit, healthy and sound to honour our Lord as said in His message: Your body is the home of God's Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19. Amen!

The CATS-Alumni Club of our Training Services Division will host the Appreciation Ceremony 2024 at our headquarters today. Pray that it will foster alumni connection, and all participants will remain tuned to the job market, through our need-oriented vocational training and re-training programmes. Amen!

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre (SSC) conducted a workshop titled “Beware of Employment Traps” (求職陷阱」多面睇 ) last Thursday for its clients on welfare benefits. Pray that they will stay alert and cautious to avoid job scams or snares as job hunting traps emerge in different forms; and that they would be fully empowered to seek long-term jobs, and pursue their dreams with vigor and skills.

Our EM service team at OTSC offers a regular study group for its EM girls every Sunday. Pray that we strive to deliver care and love to the disadvantaged and needy community and co-build an inclusive society filled with understanding and harmony. Amen!

Our SSC has co-organized a briefing this week and a visit today to an elderly residential home to learn communication skills with the seniors through voluntary work. Pray that we will continue to collaborate with different parties to deliver light and hope to the elders and the carers as we strive to follow Jesus Christ’s example to walk with the deprived sector.

Our Child Development Fund (CDF) team will continue to partner with a church to hold regular band practice for our student mentees every Friday. Pray that they will enjoy and be able to explore their potential and eventually grow in confidence and become stronger to face challenges.

Happy Winter Solstice!
Please pray that the disenfranchised and disadvantaged such as migrant domestic helpers working far away from home, or refugees stranded in Hong Kong would feel cared for and not alone, especially at a time that reminds people of family reunions. Pray that they feel embraced by Godly love through walking with us when they stay far from their hometown by choice or by chance. Amen!

Our China team is conducting play-based service during weekends in winter for the children in Shuangzhi Village (雙寨村) in Qinghai. Pray that we strive to help the youth learn through constructive play time; and thus, promote the well-being of the vulnerable and needy children on the Tibetan Plateau, especially in this freezing winter.

Our CDF Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) will take part in a carnival initiated by 10 churches in Tin Shui Wai; and also rejoice with the community in Christmas caroling. We are deeply grateful for God’s mercy, insight and protection against all odds and obstacles despite the economic downturn and challenges we faced. Pray for another blissful year ahead! May His bountiful blessings be poured out on our clients, all staff members and their families, board members and friends of CA – “Our hope is in You” Psalm 39:7b. Amen!
